Build him a statue!
Too soft. Play him, he wants it. If he stinks he stinks if heβs good heβs good. All this βruin his developmentβ crap.
If I was Woll I would play it safe heal, and get ready for next season. Already established as number one goaltender. Nothing to be gained by playing. Get your agent busy getting a contract, secure the future, show you have Leaf material. Take care of yourself or you will be LTIR ed, sent to Robidas Island, or given up on if you play poorly in a fifteen game stretch.
Leafs gotta stop treating everyone with kid gloves. Are you a hockey player or not? Get out there and prove it.
@Nick am with you took the leafs management way to long to make this decision on Sammy.I hope he gets the help he needs as mental health is nothing to take lightly, but I do believe he want play another game for the leafs unless a magic marcle happens and he finds the Sammy of last year
Treliving has the unenviable job of trying to undo what Dumas spent 5 years phawking up
Comparing Hildeby to Sparks is pointless. Sparks never gave me that calm, smooth, economical movement & grounded vibe that seems apparent in Woll & Hildeby. He won the Calder Cup as a Marlie playing behind a very good AHL team, coached by Keefe, but he always struck me as an emotional, excitable goalie. Sometimes that make-up doesn't work in the NHL. Reimer I viewed as solid, but not a clutch 'money' guy. The final assessment of Woll is incomplete, but he seems wired the right way to me, along with Hildeby. We'll soon find out.
Babcock tried to treat marner like a man and he went behind his back and blabbed to his teammates to organize a mutiny.
how should they handle him? leave him with the marlies.
The guy should not even be in the NHL at this time. His development is not done yet. This is just poor player management
play much better defense in front of him for starters . otherwise he'll lose his confidence like his predecessor
Regardless of what the Leafs want to do with Hildeby, they will need to give him at least a couple of starts over the next few weeks. The reasons are twofold: they have to see what he can do against NHL shooters before any trade moves are made and they cannot run Jones into the ground with overuse. Like it or not, the 3rd stringer is now the starter and this team needs to treat him like one by letting the newly appointed back up help him carry some of the workload.
Because Leafs fans give a shit & there are lots of them. Itβs like the Lakers or Yankees of hockey.
Take it easy bud. The talk of ruining this kid is dramatic. He's a stop gap for until Woll is healthy…how many games could he really play??? 3 or 4 maybe, thats hardly throwing a player to the wolves.
Play him against the Ducks in the back to back after the Kings game and see how he does.
Stop treating Hildeby like a baby!!! Put him in net and give him is time to shine!!! Wake up!!!
build expectations, play him in big games, then ride him when he's not perfect. leaf tradition
if tre was a good gm he would have dumped samsonov and kept khallgren.
Tell him he is here temporarily to back up Jones and to have fun and soak it in. The players should be supportive and no matter what happens make him feel a part of the team.
How about play D in front of him. Samsonov would have been fine if that was the case.

Leafs have goal on mind your net
Isnβt Hildeby getting the typical Leaf goaltender treatment (no budget for a real #1 goalie)? At least Leafs were appropriate in putting Sammy on waivers. The big question now is – does Hildeby also end up on waivers within 2 to 3 years – because the Leafs are overpaying forwards with no trade clauses – and not trading for top goaltending?
