As a pens fan I like to see Friedman get a chance at some more game play in the nhl I liked him his time with the pens honestly sad to see him go could have used him in place of ruwedel which I like also but man he had a bad game last!

Ovechkin had at least one shot on goal every single game last year. Every single game. He had one game in 21-22 and one game in 20-21 with zero shots.
Last year the wings had just as good a start (however they were high-draft pick opponents last year that is the only difference).
I don't hate Ovechkin, but I've watched him closely, when he is on the ice, going back to last year, and he is not moving much, less on defense. He moves to the circle where he performs his slap shot and doesn't move from there. More so on the PP. Considering his age and apparent lack of energy maybe it's time to be concerned. Maybe I'm wrong!
I always remember Craig Anderson stealing game after game against Detroit in the regular season. Would love to see how many wins he had against every team.

The Capitals were due for a rebuild two years ago. It is insane that they haven't started that process yet.
The team is 100% done. And time does look like it has caught up to Ovechkin.
None of Backstrom, Oshie, Carlson, Wilson or Kuznetsov should still be part of this team. None of them… Yet all of them are still there. It's insane. You can't ice the exact same team every year for 10-12 years and expect something different to happen.

ducks fan here…..when you consider the 05 lock out delaying Ovechkins rookie year…the shortened 2013 season….the shortened Covid season….followed by another shortened season….he could have already broken the record….that's 100 goals potentially right there he lost…. 🙁
As much as we all marvel at the Great 8, it grows clearer by the day that it is time for Ovie to call it a career… It very rarely ends up a special ending when you stay past your prime, for you end up a shadow of your former greatness… Father Time is undefeated…

Devils are not having a good start
Ovechkin definitely slowing down physically. I remember seeing his speed stat in NHL24 being one of the highest in the game iirc? I saw that and was so confused as someone who’s been watching the capitals closely over the past few years and noticed alex’s declining speed.

Looks like 20 will be the new 40 for Ovi in terms of goals scored per season. Needs to play a few more years to break the record.
That "pass" last game is a perfect example of age catching up with a player. I remember the same happening to Selanne. He started losing balance more easily, missed the puck entirely on easy onetimers thanks to stiffening joints etc. his body just isn't functioning the way it did 10 years ago.

Caps have a terrible team this year, has nothing to do with OV. He hasn't been blazing fast in years but he's still outrageously physical and a potent threat. Easy 40+ for him this year.
