What I’m hearing about the Blackhawks at the start of 2024 — No Long-Term Contracts right now.

Yeah… called it

They’re rebuilding through the draft. They’re doing this the right way and don’t expect corners to be cut at the expense of ceiling and longevity. We’ll be building a fucking statue of this man one day and he’ll have earned it.

Yes but would eventually like a hoosa type signing in the future but I am just glad to see we have some prospects coming up.

Thank god the cap is finally going up because in the past the NHL’s salary structure has actually punished teams for drafting too well

I love this approach unless someone like Pettersson is actually available in UFA. Throw money at that.

This is the right approach. However, the on ice product is absolutely awful right now yet the team is still charging ticket prices like this team is playoff contender.

This team nearly absent of skill. In pro sports skill is your entertainment, and entertainment is the value of your product. This team is not entertaining. So it’s like, I don’t mind if they lose right now, but getting smoked 5-1 each game while watching guys whiff on passes, miss open nets, etc is just not okay.

That’s what KD needs to address. This team needs skill, guys who are fun to watch, and to at least be somewhat competitive in games.

Do we really need to tank again in the 2024-2025 season? Seems like Bedard is tough enough and understands what this season is all about but maybe he needs some tools around him next season to at least be a mid team. I guess it doesn’t have to be long-term contracts for players but I also don’t think we need to be dogshit next year either.

That’s all fine and dandy, but they still need to get NHL caliber players around Bedard. He can’t keep playing with the guys he’s currently on a line with for another year

Good old sports socialism lol rewarding the weakest teams with the best new talent

This was pretty clear just by looking at the picks we’ve acquired over the next three years.

Multiple firsts the next couple years, multiple 2nds the next three.

We will surely be active in free agency as well, and could even include some of those picks in trades to bring in players. But we’ll be drafting early and often to keep the prospect pool full for the next 5+ years.
