Habs DOMINATE Stars, Slafkovsky Deserves Respect, Let the Rebuild Happen NATURALLY
Montreal Canadiens beat Dallas Stars 4-3 January 2nd, 2024. Juraj Slafkovsky dominate game, Nick Suzuki, Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris, Cole Caufield Habs goal scorers.
Amazing hockey day for Montreal, first Montreal wins its first PWHL game and then we get one of the most entertaining habs game so far this year that got carried by our young stars. Makes us forget about the world Juniors
Living in enemy territory listening to the darn Maple Laught fans year round about their "superstars" and their supposed great team, I am loving the new direction of the Habs. It took way to long for Mr Molson to wake up and get ride of GOD AWEFUL Mark Bergevin, but he finally got it right with Gorton and Hughes.
Remember 31.05.2021 that date was better than winning a Stanley Cup. I am 56yrs old and as long as I live, we will never see the Maple Laughts win THE CUP.
Slaf is proving management right in keeping him up and developing all the little components of NHL hockey. I was a little sceptical after all the times he was rocked by hits and an injury last season. That’s why I only watch hockey and don’t manage hockey teams. The future looks bright; I gotta wear shades 😎. Great channel. I subscribed.
When this season started, I thought the Canadiens would hang around a playoff spot until the all-star break before fading away and end up 20th to 22nd in the general standings HOWEVER!!! Should they still be hanging around in mid-March or so, they have a chance to get in the post season . Lastly, if they make the playoffs they very much could be a tough out in the first round of the playoffs. Could become interesting. So buckle up
It was an ok game, nothing special, the only reason why I don't want Anderson hurt is because I want him gone come trade deadline, or he can be out all year dont care.
Habs fan – but they did not dominate anyone – much less the STARS. Outshot almost 2-1 and almost let in 3 goals in a few minutes. They played hard, but were also fortunate and lucky. Slaf played good, but he had chances in the slot and kept passing. Easy with the platitudes of this 500 team. A long way to go in talent –
Nice to see Slav have a powerful game. he has a much different game than the other people in his draft class. He's very strong along the boards physical, awareness. Just wait until he mature stronger.
Winning games should be a priority. Ive been on the #stiffweinieforcelebrini train until December but snot anymore. Pushing for a playoff spot will do wonders for the confidence of these young pups.
I’m okay with a loss but am always looking for a win. Hughes will look to use draft or prospect capital to add talent. I’m hoping he is able to add elite scorers.
thank you for supporting Montreal in their quest for victories, you have a new subscriber!
Because it is concerning to hear many supporters wishing for defeat. The playoffs were possible at the start of the season. Demoting Armia was a dumb mistake because he is a big player and we have been a small team for a long time.
Slafkovski-Suzuki-Caufield
Newhook-Dach-Anderson
Pearson-Monahan-Gallagher
Pezzetta-Evans-Armia (HP out)
was the way to go since day 1. Tinordi would have never killed Dach if we played that heavy 4th line all night. Undersize lead to injuries.
I still have little hope that the Habs can make it to playoffs, especially after seeing games like this but you can see that the team wants playoffs this year already. Were Suzuki, Caulfield, and Slaf all playing some additional time in other lines on purpose tonight? they were great, sometimes I feel like Slaf please have a shot then I remember what kind of player he is. Montembeault was great after 1st goal, but credit to Kovacevic for what he became for this team too, progress behind the scenes 🙂 go Habs go 🙂
I agree with what Marty said earlier on in the season when Slafkovsky had a few good games in a row. He's 19. He's going to have ups and downs. But if he consistently plays like this when he's 22-23, it will be great! As for now, I'm happy he's getting success and Andrew, you're totally right about the play on the ice and the box score. Slafkovsky had to do with 3 of the 4 goals for sure.
Its great seeing the progress in Slaf's game…but I tend to pull in the reigns on how good Slaf has looked because it's a long season and fans need to be constantly reminded, he is only 19yrs old (it's scary thinking what he will be when his body matures and he gets stronger…yikes!). The season grind of 82games, the better you stand out the more a bullseye is pointed on you from the opposing team…I'm a little worried just bc Slaf still has to learn to keep his head up and know what's happening around him (but he has gotten better). On the positive side…I really like the chemistry and comfort level certain players are attaining with each other ie (esp on the PP) Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Monahan, Matheson…super unfortunate to have both Dach and Newhook out because it's a development year missed for them…and this team desperately needs a good (remaining healthy for a full season) 2nd line to assist with the offence. Another huge positive is the offence we are getting from our young D…very encouraging! My one big concern, is the lack of defensive awareness. giveaways, chasing, and breakdowns this team has (system? young players? a work in progress?). I hope it can be coached to improve but it's concerning. I do like when the defensive play is aggressive…when they sit back, it hurts them every time. My outlandish prediction that the players we wish to trade away from the Habs who might not have the greatest value…Hughes&Co will try to get some forward defensive help in return for our PK&4th line.

We are a 500 team without Dach, Newhook and all the in and out injuries, also a 3 goalie system!!!
The only bad. Couldn’t bury a goal with 6 minutes of empty net.
The defensive depth is most impressive…year 2 of full blown up rebuild and defense is so much better than “contenders” like Toronto
Pretty nailed again!!!
You know how I know Slaf had a good game? Cause even the commentators on the Dallas feed were going: "here comes Slafkovsky again!"
God bless you my friend. 😊
Sorry but how did the Habs dominate that game when the shots are 33 to 18 in favor of Dallas…
Go Habs!!!

The Habs showed character when Mike Matheson made the error, they went out and showed that they were with their team mate.
Jordan Harris played a great game, yesterday and against Tampa!
Slafkvsky is playing really great hockey, get out of his way he hits like a train, he's so good with his stick, the kid is gaining a lot of experience
And the # 1 star Sam M ……….wow what a game.
Slaf was a monster on the back check and fore check, took away so many pucks and created a lot of plays, was very good

The player Slav reminds me of is Getzslaf , big body good with the stick he makes smart plays and very good defensively
Slafkovsky Deserves Respect, for his 8 goals in the past 2 years… Really ??
Imagine Slafkovsky at his peak when he's 25 years old. He's a monster in the making
I wouldn't say dominate…did you watch the 3rd period?
Nice to see Slav have a powerful game. he has a much different game than the other people in his draft class. He's very strong along the boards physical, awareness. Just wait until he mature stronger.
Trade Savard, Allen and Monahan. Draft a top 5 pick. Sign back Monahan as a free agent in the summer ( same as we did with Plecanek).
Respect
Aretha Franklin/Slafkovsky

Good stuff, DD
Thank you

I mean… Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield and Newhook-Dach-Anderson isn’t too shabby if that’s how next year starts.
Great jersey.
Ok did not expect us to win this one… still at .500 which is crazy

Thanks for this show
If you know, you know. And you know. The Slafinator is on the rise wooooooo

Slafkovsky is a beast, to think he is only 19 and he is basically carrying the team on his back already.
Its great seeing the progress in Slaf's game…but I tend to pull in the reigns on how good Slaf has looked because it's a long season and fans need to be constantly reminded, he is only 19yrs old (it's scary thinking what he will be when his body matures and he gets stronger…yikes!). Slaf is 5 hits (57) behind the combined of Thompson, Lafreniere and byfield (62 hits altogether) so far this season
needless to say that he’s already dominant even at 19 y/o
