So major speculation, but Jack’s injury looked exactly like the impact I had when I tore my labrum in my shoulder. I am not a doctor lol.
If it is a torn labrum, that might be a situation where he’s out for a week, plays the rest of the season, and then gets surgery in the offseason. Hopefully I am being overly pessimistic here…
Great win. Tough game. Physical game. Really hope Jack is okay. Rest up devils we got Quinn coming to visit
Depth scoring, adequate goaltending
Huge ups for brendan smith
Can someone hook me up with Mikey McLeod’s PT? Not a clue what’s got into him this season, but he’s gone from a 4C who is good at face offs, to a legit passable 2C who is the best in the NHL at face offs overnight almost.
Had to get 2 points from Chicago no matter what. So did that at least. Vitek with two softies but the Hawks didn’t have much, as expected. And another damn injury.
Not the ideal kind of game on the front half of a back to back. Ice up tonight boys because you’re at it again tomorrow night!
I don’t mean to sound dramatic
But that was the most important win of our lives
Anybody got a clip of Jack getting hurt at the end?
The game thread was a nightmare when the hawks scored the first goal but the Devils were able to keep their feet in a very greasy game, bring the game back to their level, score big goals when they were needed, and shut down some dangerous opportunities. VV 2GAA Challenge Success! Also stick tap to Marino for clearing two exposed pucks from the crease.
Can I just say this is the classiest interview ever and I now think Smith can do no wrong
**Edit:** I mean seriously. Talks about how proud of Mikey he is, understands having to answer the bell, hopes Bedard recovers quick because he’s so talented. And he’s running a charity! I’m donating to it **today.** What a fucking treasure.
**Edit2:** [here](https://jamkancerinthekan.networkforgood.com) is the link to Brendan Smith’s Kancer Jam charity event.

3rd most wins in the metro!
God damn..Smith is a fantastic interview..I’m liking him more and more
Def makes some dumb plays sometimes but Smith is the fucking man
Missed the third. What happened to Hughes?
NHL league offices in shambles with possibility Bedard misses the all star game

League Leading Fourteenth Comeback Win of the Season:
* Yo, what a game tho! What a game! We needed to win after the shit Chicago pulled and we did it.
* **First things first, I am so fucking happy Nico is okay and I hope Jack is alright. I hope we don’t get any disconcerting news about Nico and/or Jack tomorrow or later tonight.**
* **Tomorrow is HughesBowl 2.0 and I sincerely hope Jack is well enough to play, but, of course, his health is way more important than anything else. So he should only play if he’s 100%.**
* Simon Nemec is a superstar. Like a true superstar. I love him.
* Two point night for Holtzy! Fuck you Lindy!
* McLeod man. I love seeing our guys having career years. Obviously its great when our usual suspects have their big games and do their things, but when our bottom six and our grinders come out like that and do it for an entire season, it really makes you see how complete of a team we can have. Weapons up and down the lineup.
* PP dead. PK a little dead. Mostly dead. Special teams gotta be more consistent.
* That second period was insane. Insane. Everyone got involved. So much fun to watch, even more fun now that we’ve won.
* **We are in the first wildcard spot now. Let 2024 be a turnaround for us.**
* Next four games are going to be our toughest stretch of the season so far: Vancouver, Tampa Bay, Florida, and Boston. If we could get 4-8 points from this I think that would be ideal. I want us to keep our playoff position and maybe even move up in the standings.
* Tomorrow is going to be a big test. We have only won one game on the second half of a back to back and that was because we lost the first game of the back to back. HughesBowl. Im sure Quinn et al are looking for revenge.
Plus! Tomorrow is going to be Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Night. The specialty jerseys are absolutely gorgeous. I’ll be there! Lets go! Debuting my Luke Hughes Jersey Jersey!
Any update on Jack? To me it looked like a little tweak and with less than 5 mins left they didn’t wanna risk it with how physical the game was. Especially with Quinn in town tomorrow.
Nemec is the safest bet to be a great top pairing dman I’ve seen in a long time at that age. What a player. Does everything well already and just has that dawg in him.
Think Jack sprained his wrist, hopefully nothing too major, you can see on the replay where this wrist twists with the stick getting caught under his leg. Nonetheless, that was a fucking great game full of physicality, just an over all fun ass game to watch. Some stupid penalties but that’ll happen with two teams being super pissed at each other. These teams may hate each other for a little while after this game.
Hope Jack is okay to be back tomorrow. He comes alive against the Canucks.
Triflin Hawks. Keep yer head up boitano
It feels like we tend to lose physical games so this was nice
Just want to know if it’s an upper body or lower body injury since people are speculating on both
Super ugly game. Very entertaining, but also frustrating.
What a game. Excellent performance out of Nemec tonight
A bit close for comfort but got the job done. I hate that Blackhawks team. Bottom six were the stars tonight
I will be devastated if mikey has anything to do with the team Canada investigation
Skipped the third period to get to the gym before it closed. Was initially happy to see the win but much to my dismay it looks like Jack is hurt now too? This fucking team and injuries. It seems like at almost every point in the season we’re playing with 3 of our top six out. Frustrating as hell. Timo had finally hit a stride and right back to injury. Well at least guys like Mikey Holtz and Nemec are stepping up to pull some weight. Tall order tomorrow playing against one of the top teams in the league with the injuries given our record on the second end of back to backs. I’ll be at the game, hopefully Daws puts on a performance and keeps it from getting away.
We’ll always have tonight to remember, fans. The night Nico’s Devils fought back!
How about Dano absolutely gushing over all the fighting and hitting midway through the game? Just loving all the physicality and rough stuff going down. He said it made him want to put on the skates again and get out there and you could absolutely hear it in his voice lol, Sal too. Just a couple hard nosed old-school defensemen who miss the days of a more physical brand of hockey.
I hope that kid is ok and just got the usual welcome-to-nhl bell-ringing. Fun game.
MMITBPITNHL
Watching the Lindy post game this is the quote when asked about Jack:
“No update on Jack. He left the game and wasn’t able to come back”
How can we mock the no namer chirping our crowd after his shorthanded goal??
Two important points. Played their game, not our game. Whatever. Play better tomorrow.
Fuck the Blackhawks. Franchise should be folded.
Please, God, don’t let that be a shoulder injury.
Did they ship over the refs from the WJCs for this game? Brutal.
Anyone have a link to the smith interview? Sportsnet gave me the damn Chicago feed tonight.
pls Jack don’t be hurt, happy with a rough and tumble win though, despite what the doomers and haters say, this team can win any type of game.
We’ve all clamored for more “grit” in the lineup for a decade now, and I think Brandon Smith is the right mix of NHL tough guy but also not a terrible player. However, he is a terrible defensman. I really hope we keep him on the 4th line as a forward – he’s way more impactful than Bastian or Tierny at this point, as long as he knocks off the stupid penalties which he’s been better at lately.
What in tarnation was this game?! You have one date on a devs game night and shit gets real
After watching the highlights, I kind of found the Boris Katchouk celebration pretty great. In the moment I was flipping off my TV though.
64 PIMS in this game from my count. Holy shit lol
I DVRed the game, which was probably fortunate because I tend to glue my nose to my phone on eventful matches like that. My wife was grateful that I didn’t have a GDT full of bad jokes to relay at her.
Nemec Holtz back and forth was seriously incredible
See, if Smith had more big hits and played aggressively more often – I could excuse all the other sloppy nonsense a little easier.
