The Leafs are in good shape moving forward. Now I am waiting to see when they will move Horton and Lupul so they don’t need LTIR to get under the cap.

Do you think the leafs might have to move both leivo and kapanen to get rid of lupul and Horton I see a team like Carolina doing something like that. If not what do you think the leafs need to ship out to get rid of that dead cap

As much as it pains me to say it, this is a good move for Toronto.
Lupul is UFA at the end of the 2017-18 season. and Horton is UFA at the end of 2020-21,the same time Connor Brown will need a new contract.
He was my hometown teams captain (Erie) and I loved his game ever since he was 17. I know with stars like Matthews and marner you might not know him as well…but if you pay attention to him you would say you want him on your team. Keep up the great work shannon!

Lupul contract is gonna end next summer, He's a Ufa so I don't think there is a point of trading him. But for Horton yeah I can definitely see them try to trade his contract during the season because he won't be a Ufa until what 2-3 years so I hope they manage to trade Hortons contract during the season

The Leafs never real rebuild , till two years ago. the leafs have taken short cuts before on there rebuilds in the past. THe leas have won because of mangement . THough with Luo lomerllio and Mike Babcock the do . Why cause there are winners and know what it takes .
Sophomore slump is going to hit at least one if not all three of their main guys, guaranteed. The Leafs, will not even make the playoffs next season as nobody is going to take them lightly anymore. Same thing for Calgary, they will not get to play the visiting teams backup goalies every home game after the other teams starter played the night before or after in Edmonton.
How exactly is Toronto supposed to be winning a cup in 2018 or 2019 when they would have to beat the Oilers in order to do that. Not going to happen.

Lupul's contract is up after this year, no way they spend something to try to move him. Horton, maybe…but then, who would even take him?

I don't feel like Lupul will get moved his contract is up after this season
Lupul comes off the books at the end of the season. I can't see the Leafs giving up assets to move that 5 mil 1 season earlier.
I'd love to see them convert Brown to a center….
