Well I am certainly glad they are done with the Devils for this year and that noted Canuck killer Jack Hughes couldn’t go tonight. Great game from the lotto line and from the Garly line as usual. It is nice that they can win games when the goaltending isn’t on, because Demmer had an off night for sure, but the guy has been the only guy to show up so many nights in his career that I can’t be too mad. Shout out Kuz as well, thought this was his best game of the season even though he doesn’t get on the scoreboard, this should buy him some goodwill. Definitely don’t blame Devils fans for being salty about that non-call on JT there but since there was that one on Petey against the Rangers in OT earlier in the year I’ll chalk it up to the hockey gods evening things out

  2. It’s time to worry a bit about Demko. Like I’m sure he’ll sort it out but it hasn’t been good and they really do need to at least keep heads above water on this road trip. There’s a real chance for the Kings to drop a few with their schedule this month.

  3. Kuz got benched again which is fine after that 4th goal but definitely not his fault. Hopefully doesn’t get scratched again cause he was buzzing

  4. SilentPolak

The devils thread is hilarious they’re having a mental breakdown over “match fixing”

  5. NJ scouts Vancouver so well. Point pressure on Hughes, low blocker far side on Demko, 3 plays ahead of every play Myers makes…

  6. Well that was probably the best 45-50 minutes this team has played all season.

Thank god we’re not playing the Devils again, my heart can’t take the rollercoaster these games are

So is spnet+ the only way to watch all the Canucks games? I like listening to the games on radio but would like to watch the rest of the season.

  8. I’ll defend Demko again, he only really should have saved that 3rd goal, and he played well. Big save on Toffoli on the PP.

I’m usually pretty optimistic, but I’m getting tired of the 3rd period collapse… it’s weird that the team collapses defensively and lets the other team take high danger shots in our end. But in the 1st and 2nd we were snuffing their offence before it could develop into anything.

We deserved the win just as much as they deserved it last time. Comebacks, fallen short, in both games. We dominated most of the game. The 10 min that they controlled play, they capitalized–I was very happy with that effort. If we play like that as often as we can, we’re going to be very happy.

Oh my GOD I’m in Mexico and turned in when it was 5-2, assuming it was a scheduled loss. Such a fun effort though I wish it hadn’t gotten to 5-4 😬

I’m kinda sad Kuzy didn’t land on the scoreboard, but that was honestly probably the best game of hockey I’ve seen him play. He was forechecking harder than I’ve ever seen him, he was making space for himself, he was running zone entries as an F1, and I think working with Mik and Suter allowed his defensive liabilities to become less so… I didn’t notice a lot of good defensive play from him but honestly that’s probably a good thing rather than noticing bad defensive play. That being said, I don’t think this comes as an indictment of Tocchet’s treatment of him, but rather maybe more of a success of it, because I don’t think you see Kuzy play this kind of game. And I love the man’s attitude about it all. He understands the process and he’s not getting angry about it. He’s putting in the work and he’s getting better. Almost as if this whole thing about him being in Tocchet’s doghouse is just something that us at the sidelines want to push on the narrative for dramatic purposes. I appreciate that the Lotto line gives us the option to defensively load his line when we don’t have last change, and I think that more than anything is Tocchet’s biggest problem with Kuz lately.

I’d also like to speak to the people talking about PDO in the game thread: no, that was not what it looks like when your team is getting PDO’d like we have for others in the past. We were letting in a high percentage but we were also scoring a lot. In the end the PDO was 0.98 as opposed to games where we’ve been 1.20 or whatnot.

why is our team’s face-off percentage so bad? Part of the reason we end up getting so many shots against and chances against is our face-off. Last game was especially bad (and probably lost because of it) and it got almost as bad near the end of this game. What gives?

Look, I know this was just a regular season game in January, but I swear to God this felt like some kind of “slaying the dragon” Chicago Blackhawks 2011 type shit. Even when the Canucks dominate 95% of the game New Jersey STILL somehow is in it to the very end.

Great win though. They deserved that. Outside of a few mistakes that was the best game they’ve played all year.

  14. Stinky_Toes12

Joshua shouldnt have gotten a penalty at the end but i think its ok bcuz it made his goal even better

  15. Sinochick

So Petey’s Swedish agent was at the game tonight. (He posted on his IG stories). I wonder if he’s there to chat with his client about contract negotiations????

  16. JTMilleriswortha1st

Overall great game but my heart doesn’t like games like that. Demko needs to be better no reason the game should have ever been that close

  17. bonergarage123

This was probably the only game I’ve seen this year where Demko played “bad” (even tho two of those goals would’ve been avoidable with better dman coverage). Regardless, he can’t be a brick wall every game. Good team effort to get the dub

  18. TwoFun7778

Devils fans when the refs won’t steal them another win against the canucks.

But yeah, good win. Makes me wish we didn’t lose against the blues since we’re going through a landmine in New York now. But hey, if we can win in new jersey, we can win anywhere now. Put the leauge on notice, we beat the devils!

It’s over for you rags, I want revenge for what they did in Rodgers. Try and maybe get a a 5v5 goal on us this time, win without running away and hiding behind Shesterkin. (We’re proabply gonna lose but idc, I’m rooting for the boys)

  19. electricnux

We’re now 4 points up on Vegas when it seemed impossible to catch them at the start of the season.

LA somehow still has 4 games in hand even with our couple 4 days breaks last week

  20. Idk man I really don’t feel good about that dub. Great first half don’t get me wrong, but that last half was pretty brutal.

  21. CaptainIndoCanadian

Please don’t split up the lotto line. It makes the team so, so dangerous. Trade for a young 2C. Overpay for that even. It’ll raise this teams ceiling to the upper echelon. Use Myers’ salary to match. Figure it out. Today was just a glimpse of what can happen when those 3 are together. Just such a perfect mix of talent and hockey IQ.

  22. KegMcGregg

I absolutely HATE that playnow commercial but wow taking a peek at the devils sub and it really do be true. Americans don’t know shit about hockey lol

  23. KegMcGregg

LOL some dude in the devils sub wants the attorney general to look into NHL officiating 😂 imagine being that much of a fucking loser

  24. Is it just me or did Pettersson look happier playing with Miller and Boeser? He looked happy.
