he’s 24, currently 29th in scoring for Centers, he was 34th last year, 33rd the year before, and 28th the year before that
he’s obviously not elite, but the situation he plays in could be much better

What were Bergeron’s numbers in his career? Also let’s remember he’s been on a rebuilding team since he started his career.
TownMinute1224
He’s a first line center. He’ll probably never be an elite center that is gamebreaking 110+ points, technically in his prime age but will keep improving because he plays a more cerebral game than a pure skilled game.
steph31199
Regular season he’s a # 2 on a cup contending team Playoff he’s shown he’s got that extra gear and can be elite for a short duration when it matters most
TheRedWoman57
No he’s not.

These cherry picked stats are mostly due to the lack of any other options at all.

It’s pretty apparent now that if the Habs are ever to be a contender, Suzuki would either find another gear or be a 2C

Heeeere we go again with the shit terms like “real number 1 center” and ” real elite goalie”. There is no need for any of these to win. The definition is so unclear that some people would consider there is 32 while others would say there is like 10 in the league.
You can win the cup with most goalies and most teams top center. It’s a TEAM game!

Is a guy who wouldn’t be on the first line on 28/32 NHL teams, and not even on the 2nd line on a few of those a 1C?
ukrainianhab
He is a 2C. Doesn’t have the speed to be a 1C. This isn’t the end of the world either you need a smart player like Suzuki to win.
xen0m0rpheus
He’s currently centering the 9th best line in the league at 24 years old. If that’s not elite I don’t know what is.
RustyTheBoyRobot
Oui et non. Il a la potentiel. Mais , a date, n’a pas transformer son équipe. Il est quand meme un bon leader a 20 ans.

I’ve been the biggest fan of his from the beginning but right now you can’t call him elite compared to the top tier of centres in the league. But what he is – a consistently brilliant centre who plays every game, makes his line better every shift, has become excellent in the faceoff dot, is probably a lock for 70-80+ points every year going forward, and a great leader, those are all super valuable to the team and organization. I know the “intangibles” thing is overblown but if there is such a thing Nick has them in spades.
