  1. You can stream either across Ontario, or anywhere for that matter ☠️ 🏴‍☠️

Because we’ll pay for it. Alberta won’t.

  3. Because the League sucks and doesn’t understand the 21st century.

  4. The maritimes being Sens territory and not Leafs is the biggest joke lol I have lived in Nova Scotia for 20 years and haven’t met a single Sens fan lol

  5. All games are watchable aboard ships that fly the Jolly Roger

    ☠️☠️☠️🦜

  6. Gary Bettmans NHL, it’s all about growing the game….

Bullshit! They need to stop this black out shit. Hopefully a good streaming service will come soon. I just want to watch the games I want, and Center ice isn’t worth the cash

  8. FreeBigSlime

This is why you stream illegally. Stupid Mickey Mouse league

  9. Jakovasaurr

Pirate until blackouts are no more

Ill be happy to pay for a leafs games subscription as soon as there is one

Because the Sens share broadcast primacy with the Habs and the Habs and Leafs would never share like that.

Should these regions exist? They exist because regional cable sports has allowed them to exist. Both TSN and RSN would need all of their current channels even if they were forced to broadcast them nationally 24/7 just to carry the same games and not lose some of them to Global or CBC. These blackouts and regions will only go away when the lost revenue from local advertisers for those local broadcasts are LESS than the potential national ad sales for nationally broadcast games. We’re just not there yet because while it doesn’t matter in Toronto since our local advertisers are mostly the largest national ones, it wouldn’t make any sense for Gary’s Car Wash in Edmonton to pay higher national ad rates to advertise for Oilers games to reach the same local market and conversely many larger advertisers would consider dropping ad money for a Jets-Blue Jackets game to be not worth the potential return.

The solution is quite simple: greater revenue sharing. If you, as a Leafs fan, want to see every game, without blackouts or regional restrictions, then you need every broadcast to be national and for the associated ad money to all go into a common pot and split 7 ways, rather than the current regional disparity.

That’s not happening any time soon.

  11. It’s all so stupid. Can’t watch my Leafs on TV because I live in Calgary now. Streameast it is

Let’s grow the game to increase revenue. We’ll also block 80% of potential fans from watching the game in case they pay for it out of curiosity.

The Sens wont have fans if not for the Ontario part of their territory. Nobody east of Gatineau cheers for the Sens LOL

I don’t make the rules. But I have an answer.

Sportsnet and TSN buy the rights to broadcast hockey games from the NHL.

Sportsnet bought the national hockey rights in Canada (paid more $ to the NHL). So Sportsnet can decide if they want to broadcast a game nationally, or just regionally.

TSN only has regional rights for select markets (which includes: some Toronto games, all Ottawa regional games, and all Winnipeg regional games) as they paid less to the NHL.

To your specific question then: Sportsnet owns the regional rights to both Calgary & Edmonton games. So if either team is playing, people in the region of Alberta can watch. (There wouldn’t be a regional blackout in Alberta because it’s the same rights holder/ Sportsnet).

Yeah as someone who lives in Kingston which is about an hour from Belleville and it ticks me off I can’t watch my leafs because In “not in the leafs region”

  16. The market would be destroyed if the Leafs were played in the Ottawa region. They already have issues with Leafs fans taking over the home games.

  17. onlytruking

IPTV boys…the games that say ‘blackout in effect’ still com in crystal clear on my t.v.

  18. joshishereandthere

NHL is stupid! That’s the correct answer

  19. Dog_is_my_copilot

Try living in Newfoundland, not in the viewing area and the west coast game start at midnight.

  20. Feeling-King-8104

$15/ month and you’ll get every game from any of the major sports packages

  21. Such a damn joke. I just moved to the Maritimes and have to watch either Bruins or the losers Sens. I remember SN was showing two American teams over the Leafs game. THATS A PROBLEM.

  22. Brando6677

I absolutely despise pirating but do it. Do it until they no longer black out games, fuck em don’t give em the moola 💰

  23. OutWithTheNew

Rogers and Bell are majority shareholders in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. You will watch them and be happy.

I feel like this is a national issue that Trudeau should fix and then turn it into a National Heritage Moment!!!! This is a disgrace.

  26. I live in Alberta now but used to live in Kingston and could watch leafs games on basic cable, is this no longer the case?

  27. JohnYCanuckEsq

It’s so funny how old these boundaries are. This is almost exactly the regional boundaries the Leafs had on Global TV back in the 90’s back when Joe Bowen called the midweek games. HNIC used these same boundaries to split up the regions on Saturday nights.

  28. sillyaviator

Use sportsurge, kept your money never miss a game

  29. thecraigbert

Jets were blacked out in Ontario tonight on their shutout win! It’s horse shit.

  30. jokeswagon

I haven’t dealt with this problem in a long time. Ahoy!
