Started the Bruins losing their second game in a row last night 43 to the Arizona Coyotes in overtime the bigger story though is losing lenus Almar to injury in overtime and having lost Matt ptra to injury earlier in the game this all on top of Brandon Carlo having been

Uh very spirited Affair throughout at mullet Arena lots of Bruins fans in attendance which was really cool to see um lenus allmar injured in the extra frame had to be helped off the ice Jeremy Swan comes in he had been sitting on the bench cold for three hours Nick Schmaltz scores the overtime

Winner with 56 seconds left on the only shot that swayan had faced there was no word after the game as to the extent of the injury uh Bruin’s trainers attended to him on the ice could not skate off on his own and head coach Jim Montgomery

Had very little little to say about all Mark’s status following the game um he just said it’s a lower body injury don’t know the extent of it they’ll know more today or perhaps uh as late as tomorrow today they are traveling to Vegas in preparation for tomorrow night’s huge game against Bruce

Cassity and the uh Vegas golden knights uh no practice or media availability expected for today so we might have to wait until tomorrow to get an update on lenus alar um it would have been nice for them to hit the ice today we could have seen him perhaps skating or giving some

Indication as to whether he could at least back up tomorrow night but um obviously losing lenus allar for any period of time would be a huge hit to the Boston Bruins talked all season long about how the goal tending tandem of allmar and Swan is the main reason why this team

Is near the top of the NHL standings so far this season uh David pook playing at an MVP level Charlie McAvoy should be in the nor convers conversation but the goal tending tanm the ability to deploy a 1A every single night while giving your other goalie

Ample rest is huge there’s a lot of NHL teams who have that number one goalie and there’s a bigger drop off to the backup that’s not the case with the Bruins they’re both number one goalies now that is a bonus for them because if one gets hurt you have a Bonafide legit

NHL starter who could step up but you can’t ride them every single game and well Brandon Busy has potential um deploying him right now at the NHL level it’s just a question mark we don’t know how he is going to to perform so we’ll see how um onmark progresses what the update is

Is on him uh but the Bruins built this team around their goal tending tandem for this season at least and um we’ll see how long allmark is out and how long San has to carry the load um and that’s not all the Bruins also lost Matt ptra

To an upper body injury earlier in the evening it was his third game back since going off to play for the world juniors tried to hit Shawn dery did not go well appears he landed awkwardly on his right arm uh he got back to his feet but was hunched over as

He went to the bench was grabbing his shoulder arm and he had to leave the game and did not return all Montgomery said was upper body don’t know the extent of it uh ptra had recorded two assists in the uh Saturday’s win over the lightning he was starting to develop

Some chemistry with his linemates um the Bruins do have two extra forwards with them on the Strip Jacob loo Oscar Steen so expect one of those two guys to be in the lineup if ptra can’t go uh that is not as significant a loss of course as lenus alar

Again yeah yes it’s a bonus to have two onea goalies in your lineup uh and of course the argument is well in the playoffs one of those guys is sitting so what’s the point of having two of those guys maybe trade one um we’re going to

See coming up here the value of having both of those guys um and the moment if and when San begins to falter uh that noise will just even get louder and you’ll start to appreciate how smart Don Sweeney was to keep both of those guys around for this season at least

Team he did say afterwards that you know there were some uh shots perhaps that he would like back there were some moments where he thought he had the game on his stick and could have played better and that’s a testament to uh how he wants to play

Still scored got the team on the board but he was upset after missing some attempts in overtime he said he felt guilty couple breakaways late in the game definitely that will haunt me tonight when I sleep um don’t like to see him being super tough on

Himself but um for him to recognize that he can get better is uh is a good thing for the Boston Bruins he’s not resting on his Laurels he’s not content uh coasting he wants to be part of the game he wants to have the game on a stick every single night poso also

Acknowledged that it’s hard for a goalie to sit on the bench for three hours and then come in uh for Jeremy Swan fantasy owners you got 0% save percentage last night you got a loss uh which is unfortunate but uh David pook supported by the Bruins social team supported by

His teammates and you know played well enough to try to get the job done for his team uh last night uh posto let’s see what his shot total was last night he had six shots on goal to go with the one successful attempt he was a minus three if you care about

Those kind of things skated 27 minutes of ice time which is almost like four and a half minutes more than Brad Marshon uh Charlie Coyle had five shots on goal in this one and Morgan geeki led the way in score scoring with a pair of assists and there’s a couple other guys

Who stood out as well namely uh Jake debrusk and Morgan or not Morgan geeki but jper bfist who scored his first goal in black and gold and a nice effort yeah one that maybe the Coyotes goalie should have had but took it pretty much into end skated it into the offensive zone

And uh buried it which was a very nice first goal for him and Potter’s out he could be uh getting some more time in the lineup coming up here in future games he’s a very versatile forward he can play all positions uh only played five goals for

The Bruins but he has almost 30 goals over his career 194 games played and Bruins brought him in for some insurance at forward I talked yesterday about the breakout threshold for forwards which is usually around 194 so of bufus oh sorry around 200 bufus is at 194 at the moment so given the

Opportunity he could very well um Step Up and add some more to this Bruins lineup Jake de brusk also scored he’s on an absolute heater at the moment uh three goals over his last five games and I believe he’s got five goals over his last seven overall and really starting

To be the player offensively that we all expected him to be this season uh right now he is on Pace for still only 23 or sorry 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points that’s a lot more respectable than it was just a couple of weeks ago

Where he was tracking for you know maybe 10 goals and 30 points if you can keep things going then uh hopefully we have not seen his ceiling so far this season his shooting percentage has leveled off at 10.6 his career average is 12.6 so if he keeps getting the puck on net with

Greater regularity then uh hopefully there’s an increased uptick in performance so pasta scoring the goal but a bit hard on himself after not being able to finish things off in overtime uh deque scoring bulist getting on the board for the Bruins he may have an increased role and get on Morgan

Geeki for um chipping in those two assists I should also mention how important Parker Witherspoon has been to this team recently as well he had the third highest ice time among defenseman last night behind makoy and linol the only other guy over uh 20 minutes uh he had three hits no shots uh

But he was a a positive when he was on the ice he’s playing on his off side at the moment and kind of a underrated addition to the Boston Bruins lineup at the moment with Brandon Carlo out and with uh Mason lorai also in the lineup so it’s important for Witherspoon

Be recalled to um to offset the loss of uh of Carlo if if anybody right now they’re relying on Witherspoon loride they only have six defenseman on the trip with them at the moment they may want to send one of those extra forwards down and recall some uh defensive help

Uh who knows maybe yobs Boral will get back in on the action here after being waved earlier this season uh might want to keep an eye on the AHL transactions uh board here today to see if the Bruins make any recalls ahead of tomorrow night’s game they might keep
