[Charlie O’Connor] Well, we have our first major “Torts lets a reporter really have it” moment in Philadelphia. He was not at all happy about the Kevin Hayes report about his supposed influence on Cutter Gauthier.

  1. >JT: “Is the guy here that caused Kevin Hayes a problem?”

    >ASF: “Yes”

    >JT: “Are you kidding me? You think Kevin Hayes is going to do something like that? That’s (b.s.).”

    >“It just pisses me off that you guys throw that (stuff) around and affect someone’s life. Kevin Hayes and I had a problem and we couldn’t come to an agreement how to play.

    >“That’s a good man. That’s a good man. And what you said is going to stay with him. That’s what you guys don’t understand. You’re going to sit there and say you have the right sources. I call (b.s.).

    >“Is that the podcast? Is that the silly podcast you do?

    >ASF: “It is a podcast, yes.”

Whether it is true or not, I really don’t believe ASF made this scoop up by himself. Someone in Tortorella’s organization told ASF this. Remember that Snow The Goalie is literally Flyers affiliated.

If it pisses Torts off, then, instead of blaming ASF, Torts should wonder why his own organization is leaking this kind of speculation to reporters.

  2. Really wasn’t as big of a blow up as people are painting it. Torts is upset that Hayes was dragged into this. Which is fair.

But in my opinion… Ant isn’t a bullshitter. He said what he said because someone high up said it. Whether that person had a source or if it was just them venting… I 100% believe a top dog said it to him that evening and Ant was simply saying that a source said “Hayes finger prints are all over this.” Whether it was right for Ant to repeat that is another question.

Oof. STG and Charlie O Connor drama.

    Here. For. It.

    Goddamn I love being back.

This is a great coach. And to think, when he was signed, majority of the fan base hated the signing. I for one love this guy.

Torts called him out and genuinely fended for Hayes. I respect that , those speculations fuck with people’s life’s no matter who the fuck you are

I don’t agree with some of Torts approach to coaching, but God damn you can’t tell me he’s not a good person. Fuck the Philly press.

For anyone defending SanFilippo here, just don’t.

This guy makes hot takes every chance he can for clicks, and hides behind the fact that he knows a few folks in the org as if he’s super connected. I know two people who work with the flyers, one in their HR group and one in the tech room. One of those guys, God love him, is a grumpy old nut who makes shit up on the fly. I could come here and say “hey yall I got a source in the organization who thinks we should trade Konecny for Crosby because ‘at least he knows how to win’ (real conversation. Yes I’m calling you out. I know you’re on this sub. Love ya)” and while that is technically true that I’m “connected to the org”, it’s completely out of left field and not something that should be looked at as objectively true or professional.

That’s fine if you want to just be a twitter dummy who claims random shit, but when you attack someone’s reputation or character you sure as SHIT better have your ducks in a line. Hayes the player didn’t always have the best rep here, hell I was extremely critical of him, but Hayes the person is a genuinely good guy who has been through abject hell the past few years and didn’t deserve some Philly shock jock dragging his name through the mud. Especially with no proof other than “someone told me he did it”

If you like SanFilippo, that’s cool. Power to you, I’m not gonna tell you who to like. But he was entirely in the wrong here and deserves to be called out. This kind of shit is why Philly from the outside looks like a toxic place to come to for athletes. The media will always be harsh, but when they’re this far off the line they need to be called out for it.
