Thats yhe problem with this team..they dont let people get to the top .an it makes players try to make the team mad..not want to even come here. An it sounds like this new company that owns the pens.is a waste. They r from boston…an they dont know how to run a hockey team….
I think everyone was shocked by the Jarry contract when it was first signed, but let’s remember, he was the best goaltender on the market. No one saw Ned making this huge turnaround. It was hopeful that Blomqvist would become back up in a year or two from this season which would be on the second half of Jarrys deal. If teams are that desperate for goaltending this year and are willing to take Jarry, then obviously take the deal. Clears future cap space and we still have 3 goaltenders in the system.
The only way trading a prospect like Blomqvist would make sense is if they were able to also move a contract with him to free up any space needed for the incoming player. Looking at teams who need goaltending: Graves and Blomqvist for Ekholm? lol The Canes also have a terrible goalie save percentage and could use another goalie or two. Graves and Blomqvist for Brady Skjei?
With all this defenseman talk, it's amazing to me that Ty Smith still gets forgotten. They still bury him in WBS because his cap hit won't jive with things, but if you have a player with his 1st round pick pedigree collecting dust with no way of him seeing ice time as a Penguin unless either EK or Letang is injured, then they should do themselves and Smith a favor and trade him for someone who can help the team, and where he can get an actual shot at playing NHL minutes again. Graves, Smith and Blomqvist for anyone who can help the LD.
Respectfully disagree about needing another D. The real issue is goal scoring. Keep Graves sheltered on the third pair this year. Who cares about the cap hit if he can perform and get his game back there. Go make a splash for a scoring forward and make some true scoring depth.
Canucks will be playing REAL hard tonight. Especially the five or six or whatever that played for PIT. They got something to prove for sure….not to mention their 3 game heater plowing thru the metro. Add their talented guys, PIT better be careful tonight. It could get Ugly fast. Conversely im diggin the team. Just a real good defenseman away from being a deep threat. Would like to add a forward to but feel its not vital. Just a 3rd or 4th line guy. I agree i… would love to take a look at this goalie. Anything that gives this team a boost. They look serious about winning a cup. Im down. This is how i like the team right now.

I wouldn't compare any goalie to Matt Murray. After the two Cups he just fell apart and is now irrelevant. Jarry is not the guy, so hopefully Ned sticks around and these WBS goalies get called up. Because they have extreme potential.
The idea of bringing up Blomqvist to see what he offers makes total sense, but it will surprise me if the Penguins do it.
Calling him the next Matt Murray is an insult!
