GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Canucks (01.11.24) | Crosby Passes Bossy For All-Time NHL Goals

After a few days without a game, the Pittsburgh Penguins were back in action against the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver struck first. Brock Boeser scored his 26th goal in 42 games. Minutes later, Boeser scored his second of the night with a tip-in power play goal. Towards the end of the period, the Penguins found the back of the net. Jansen Harkins Used his body to protect the puck and delay for time so Marcus Pettersson could come crashing down. Harkins passed to Pettersson winding up for the one-timer. The Canucks answered the Penguins goal right away. The 1st ended with the Penguins trailing 3-1. Early in the 2nd, Sidney Crosby skated the puck into the zone and fired a shot into the net to cut the Vancouver lead to one. Crosby is now tied for the 22nd spot with Mike Bossy for most NHL goals all-time at 573. The Penguins gave everything they had in the 3rd to overcome the one-goal deficit, multiple power play opportunities, and pulling the goalie. With 5 seconds left in the game, Erik Karlsson shot the puck from the point and it tipped off Crosby’s leg and in to tie the game 3-3. Crosby also broke the tie with Bossy and now has sole ownership of the 22nd spot for NHL goals with 574. Vancouver was able to sneak a goal into the net late in the overtime period to clench the win 4-3.

  1. Wasn't expecting a win beforehand, but it's always a bit more disappointing when the captain in particular puts forth that effort.
