On Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers completed a shocking trade, sending #2 prospect Cutter Gauthier to Anaheim for Jamie Drysdale & a future 2nd round pick. All hell has broken loose in the days since. Accusations, trash talk, coach blow-ups, a shootout win, and probably like 5 other things, too.

I just saw a video of Zegras talking about Torts and how he likes him. Was a fan of the Rangers when he was a kid and loved Torts as the coach.

The NCAA loophole is a problem. Essentially gives those prospects a NMC. Too much power for those kids. Why even have a draft for those players?
A. Sean Avery is an idiot who ruined his hockey career because he would rather run his mouth and create a circus around himself instead of being a solid NHLer.
B. Gauthier and those around him did not handle this right. He burned a few bridges before he even stepped into an NHL locker room.
The handling of michkov pre draft takes on a whole new light now. I’ve never heard of that kind of treatment in my years watching the nhl. Flying into the team facility ? Unprecedented I think. Hey tell everybody you won’t sign with them and here’s your duffel bag of cash. See ya on the stage kid

why are you saying the Flyers are an organization in turmoil? Really? What are you talking about? Torts, Briere and Jones? How do you think they'd react to your comment?
I wonder if the US Under 18s were discussing/joking about the mess in the Philly organisation in April/May 2022 and this put the thought into Gauthier's mind that he did not want to be there!

Charlie hit the nail on the head–as a journalist, you have to weigh the value/impact of what you are reporting. It's just irresponsible to dish that out there even if someone in the org said something. It would be a completely separate thing if there was actual evidence of foul play by Hayes. But it was just hearsay
Maybe this is what it looks like and he's a prima donna.. but maybe he has some of the hockey parents I saw when my kid was playing. I agree it's likely that he was instructed to ghost the team b/c his family thought he was too nice to have play the hardball business game. It sounds to me like he really saw himself as a Flyers type of player and his folks told him to be greedy for his own good.
