Honestly, I don’t want to be the token *Advanced Stats Nerd*, but this team was top five in every puck possession and scoring chance category even when we were 2-9-1. We just had the worst 12 game run of puck luck I’ve ever seen as a fan. It was clear that if we could regress back to league average shooting and save percentages (instead of bottom two in both), we’d be a fucking wagon.
Confidence plays a huge part too, but this felt like it was coming eventually.

It’s honestly mind boggling. Even the most positive fan is lying to themselves if they thought they would climb back into the group this quickly. It’s not sustainable, but what a ride it’s been.

For sure, but also Lots of work left to be done.

Theyâre just getting started.

Watching this team at the start of the year and now is like night and day. I remember at rock bottom I was almost certain that they would miss the playoffs. Yes, Connor didn’t look like Connor, but they looked completely lost. There were so many fundamental issues, particularly on defense, that I didn’t see any way to correct them in time to make a playoff run.
Fast forward two months and this team is playing at an incredible level. Are they perfect? No. The PP still doesn’t look quite right, they 4th line leaves a lot to be desired, and who there are still too many cross ice passes by defenseman in their own zone for my taste. But…
Boy has the defense improved by miles. The PK is as good as I’ve ever seen it. Nurse is playing the best hockey of his career, minus the Chicago game on Tuesday, and this team is fucking resilient. They massively outplayed Detroit tonight and got the win because they would not quit. And the PP will start clicking again before too long.

It helps playing as a team.. Helps play Defence.. it helps having goaltending.. Thanks Paul Coffey and Kris Knoblauch

Knob has definitely given himself an early chance at the Jack Adams. What he’s done with this team is unprecedented

I’m primarily a Canucks fan but I lived in Leduc so I’m an Oilera fan when they don’t impact each other. I remember I told my Dad who was ROFLing at their misery at the time, that firing Woodcroft was premature but that the Oilers would storm back regardless and make it. Looks like it might happen, and now Western Canada is really really good.
McDavid and Draisaitl are simply too good. Even if they can’t carry, there’s no better two players to rally around and commit 100%. This run has been amazing.

So, let me just sayâŠwe started near bottom, cut it half halfway through the season, does that mean we will be at the top at the end of the season? Not impossible with the boys right now!

Trade McDrai tho right ??!

Congrats on your turn around from a Canucks fan. I have to admit the beginning of the season looked real rough for you guys but the hustle these past games has been unreal.
