Gabriel Landeskog Skates! Avs Are Ready For the Road

The Colorado Avalanche are prepping for a five game road trip starting Saturday in Toronto, but before they left they were joined out on the ice by their captain, Gabriel Landeskog. Not in shorts and sandals either. Landeskog took the ice in full gear and started some very light skating around the ice for the first time in almost a year. The road to return is still a way down the road, but if you are an Avs fan, it was impossible to not have a smile painted on your face seeing the video and images coming out of the Avs social media page. Baby steps.

Now the Avs will focus on the road, as their next five games will take place out east. With the Avalanche starting to play like we all know they can, how much confidence do they have heading into game one in Toronto after beating top teams like Vegas and Boston?

  1. Good to see Landy back on the ice. I would agree with Kyle in that he has likely been doing some skating the last month or so since he got back to Denver out of the public eye. He mentioned in an interview that since this particular issue started when he got cut by Makar's skate in the bubble playoffs, and over the next two years he developed a lot of bad habits in order to try and compensate for it which eventually led to other injuries and now this. This stage of his rehab is going to be all about learning how to skate with proper technique and using the appropriate muscles in the appropriate way while skating to prevent future injury. I bet what we saw today was probably stage 2 or 3 of that process where they finally let him touch a puck for a little bit. On a side note, sending him to Loveland would be an option once he's cleared to play, they could send him down for 5 games (I think) as a conditioning assignment without having to clear waivers.

  2. What! Skating? …..I just broke into song!
“The hills are alive with the sound of music!”
    3 octaves higher than usual!

  3. as long as they get points in all 5 games ill be happy ,cant loose and not get points against the east just free points there
