  1. Unfortunately, Robertson (and a sweetner) has got to be the piece T.O. needs to move to get back a decent D-man. Preparation for a Marner move should already be a focus in July.

  2. Leafs will need cheap young players for many years to come so Treliving is being prudent by keeping Minten and Cowan. Definitely the way to go.

  3. Leafs can move guys like Brody who is a pending free agent, plus moving his salary would make room for a new player under the cap. Trading assets does not free up cap space.

  4. 3 moves the Leafs should do:

1 – Move Samsonov back to the minors – sorry – he had his shot and he's already given away too many points in the standings

2 – If Ottawa somehow agrees – (D) Chychrun for (D) Liljegren (W) Robertson (W) Abruzzese (minors) and a 3rd Round Pick *Note Chychrun is under contract next season also

3 – That will leave $1,146,667 to sign Corey Perry – more than league minimum

  6. Chychrun is injury prone aswell, and if the leafs try for chychrun they would need salary retained to fit for this year. If salary is retained the leafs will pay for it and who knows it could be worth it.

Chrychrun being until the end of next year would make him eligible to sign when tavares contract goes down.

All this to say im a fan of neither really they are both I jury prone players and the leafs should have learned their lesson through foligno.

  7. Except Chychrun is a defensive liability, he's actually not great in his own zone the last few years. We have enough players like that. All that being said, if it took Minten and a 1st…well that is actually fair in my opinion and I would make that trade. But I doubt Ottawa would trade him for a late 1st and Minten. I do like how Tre is keeping our blue chip prospects.

  8. I'd rather have Tanev over Cychrun. He's more the Defenseman the Leafs need and would be cheaper to aquire.

  9. Robertson a good trading piece! NO rental players, a waste of time, money, and possible players.

  10. If TML won't trade the 1st or Minten or Cowan , does any one actually think a top 4 pair defense with term is possible for Niemela lol not a chance in H E double hockey sticks!

  11. Why would Ottawa ever make a trade with the leafs? They have nobody beside Minten, Cowan or Knies which are not being moved by the leafs. They have to wait till the 25-26 season when they have real cap space.

  12. This is not a cup year for the Leafs. No sense in trading away talented youth for a rental. Winning two rounds would be a miracle even if we sell the farm
