(If you do trade him give him a run with Matthews and Marner before the deadline)

Seems smart to let him sit a few, he gets hurt every year pushing too hard.

one is a hobbit we dont give two shits about anyways …

I swear if this man was on the top 6 he’d be pushing 70-80 points with 25 – 30 goals feeding and being fed by 34.
Problem so far has been health since his size does him no favours to his preferred play style.
Also doesn’t help that he’s behind Knies, Bertuzzi, Marner, and Nylander for that Top 6 winger spot.
Glad he’s found a good spot with Domi though, we need that scoring when the opposing defense clamps down on our top 6

I have only one takeaway from this.
Nicholas Robertson is Cole Caulfield father.

Caufield isn’t untouchable based off his play on an injured Canadiens this season, I actually don’t think he’s untouchable at all.
Robertson though hasn’t shown to be anything special, a middle 6 winger with a 38 point pace while being poor defensively.

I am all for Nicky Bobby getting into the lineup on the reg. However, this is where I have an issue with advanced stats. Do you honestly believe with 20 more games and 500mins more ice time, he’d sustain these numbers? I have faith he’s a top 9 NHL winger, but I’m also realistic.

I believe in Robertson, it’s just I don’t really think he has a role on this team or ever will unless there are injuries
Like both top lines need a player who can forecheck and receive the puck for the top guys and I think Keefe and a lot of other coaches want a more two-way line third line come playoffs and obviously he’s not a forth liner. In saying that I’m sure theres a way to make an more offensive third line work it’s just not ideal IMO
I think we all know that Robertson can shoot the puck in the net when he gets to the right spot and he’s only 22, it’s just he’s not a bottom six type player and doesn’t fit the role that the Leafs top 6 needs and will always be undersized which will sadly always probably go against him.

One has absolutely nothing to do with our franchise, and shouldn’t be somebody that we’re comparing our own players to because they don’t play in our system. I’m pretty sure that if we had Cole Caufield playing on a non-rebuilding team, his numbers wouldn’t look like that.
Robertson is a fine hockey player, but there’s a reason that he’s missed significant time in each of his first 4 pro hockey seasons. As the saying goes, the best ability is availability.

Their +/- is a wash with one playing more minutes in MTL and one playing less minutes/easier competition in Toronto, despite scoring at a higher rate. That’s why he’s been sat.

Caufield > Robertson

Goals/60 is my least favourite stat, it literally tells you nothing. Robertson plays 3rd line minutes behind elite teammates against inferior competition and 2nd unit PP against 4th unit PKers once the Leafs are up by a million. Cole Caufield plays first line minutes against first pair defenders and first unit PK. Cole Caufield at 0.84 goals per 60 is really good.
Other players around Caufield’s G/60 number are Jamie Benn, Martin Necas, Troy Terry, Brandon Hagel, Mark Stone, Alex Barkov.
Other players WAY ahead of Caufield’s G/60 number are Julien Gauthier, Jacob MacDonald, Robbie Fabbri, Anthony Mantha, Sam Gagner, Jack McBain…

This stat tells you almost nothing.
