  1. This is coaching genius. Never letting the player become complacent. Throwing out different lines messes with teams ability to line match. I think RT knows exactly what he's doing. And is executing.

  2. I was thinking that this could happen during the 2 years previous and wasn't expecting it this year.butI wouldn't have been shocked if it happened if it did because we had the core and no plan to buy into. Look how Myers and other players have been reserected and even Garland has probably changed his mind about wanting to be traded. Like I said, I wouldn't have been surprised if this had happened during the last two years and stayed on the bandwagon and I hated how the media and the fans almost willed bad karma on the team before they had a chance to get going. Everytime we have a loss, it brings back those feelings and luckily they usually come back with a win and everyone breathes a sigh of relief and get back on the bandwagon. We had it so good during the Sedin years and even back then people still complained. Vancouver fan's need one cup just so we can chill out

  3. Can we stop talking about Pettersson's contract? He's a high character guy and I took him at his word this offseason when he said he wants to play this season out and then talk in the 2024 offseason. I also take Rutherford at his word when he said he's not worried about it, that there's no rush from the Canucks perspective either. Of course getting cost certainty on him sooner rather than later would be helpful, but this is business and both sides understand that; it's also not so big of a detriment to be frustrating the Canucks front office either. There's no story to be had here and there won't be until the offseason. Let it rest. We'll have MONTHS to beat this one to death then.

  4. Having coaches who actually walked the walk as players who had Stanley Cup success, they were players who did the right things and not guys who weren't great, so they became coaches

  5. Top picks and prospects should be untouchable. This is only the first part of the first season they’ve been this good in a decade. Don’t overshoot and screw yourself down the road by overvaluing the roster. They’re great, but most Cup winners have had at least one crack at the playoffs before they go all in.

  6. Maybe Petey knows this team is special. We play .500 now and he gets 100 pts we make playoffs. He gets 12M- if we have playoffs success he can command more and he cash in after we win a round or 2

  7. Jesus christ this is like the three blind mice. “Does pettersons contract concern you?” As if thomas drance is an authority. Pettersons contract is not a story. Its not uncommon that a player would want to play and not worry about that stuff. Can the media just back off of him? If a player says he doesn’t want to focus on that, maybe you should back off of the story and let him play the game.

  8. How about Evgeni Malkin? Big, experienced elite center, who the Penguins have no use for if they are looking to rebuild. Malkin for Hoglander or Podkolzin and a second-round pick seems like a win for both teams.

Russian line of mikhaiev, malkin, kuzmenko

  9. Pettersson will sign 106 mil 8 year (13.25 AAV) deal in the offseason and it may even push 110 mil (13.75 AAV).

  10. I'm not arguing a second line centre but we do not trade our #1 or our top drafted prospects. Maybe Kosmenko and a lower pick this year or next. Otherwise just stay the course and add a young forward or D for Kosmenko. I can't believe these media guys want us to sell out our future for an over rated veteran. By the way when does this ever work out? Very rarely.
