Yes, refs were dogshit, but that was pisspoor effort. Star players invisible all night (especially JT) and defence shit the bed…
I was watching the 1st and when the leafs went up 3-0, I turned the game off and said to myself, I’ll come back in the 3rd when it’s 3-3 to watch them lose in the last few minutes,
Leafs didn’t disappoint
And the pendulum swings back to me thinking this is a mediocre team. Stay tuned for next week’s gut feeling.
Near zero percent chance we lose that game if the game is called properly. Two of Colorado’s goals happened when we should have been on the power play.
It’s frustrating. The other teams really know how to play disciplined when they play us eh?
Jobbed but the leafs can’t just be giving up 4 unanswered goals. That’s bad
What a fucking joke
40 million dollars in forwards and they were invisible tonight.
Our defense is fucking terrible man. Treliving gotta do something because if we make the playoffs with this d corps, we are fucking screwed
Sometimes you’re the bug, sometimes you’re the windshield.
Accountability applies to everyone except Marner and Brodie. Same story every game, so tiring.
Not a single timeout called at any point by Keefe. Not after the 2nd goal when things were getting out of hand. Not when they tied it. Not when they got ahead. Nothing. Just fucking sat there, benched the 2nd line, and figured that was enough to justify his undeserved contract extension (that kicks in next year btw).
Refs were shit. Top players were shit. Keefe simply took the night off. What a miserable game. I’m tired of blowing leads.
I’ve never seen a coach throw in the towel with 4 mins left in a 1 goal game. why is Keefe still employed lmao
I will start a GoFundMe to pay the fine for Keefe. Light those refs up. Set this goddamn league on fire.
Six shots in the third period. Six.
Doesn’t feel like we lost to the avs as much as it feels like we lost to the refs
Emblematic of the past 7 seasons and likely the next 7 seasons when we overpay Marner.
I know they’re stars and it shouldn’t matter but it’s probably hard to perform when the opposition will never get penalized against you
We got absolutely screwed by the refs. But at the end of the day, their star players are just simply better. Matthews was absolutely shut down by Makar. Marner has got to be the most overpaid player in the NHL. He is not strong enough, nor fast enough to create open space for himself when teams play him tight. We’ll never win anything with this core. Rinse repeat.
I see a lot of people going off on the team but I think they did alright considering the refs were not calling shit. Not much you can do against cheaters. 4 less shots with 3 less pps? Sounds like a good effort to me
Mitch Marner is going to ask for a raise lmao
That did not seem like a fairly played game in my honest opinion. 2nd game in a row as well.
This is a team with no heart. They up 3-0 and then get outscored 5-0 the rest of the game. For 7 years they have been the same team. Make the playoffs. Lose. Bad defensive hockey. They have zero chance of winning anything this year without major chances. Just a really heartless hockey team overall.
Any other team in the league only get 1 PP in back to back games?
Bah, leafs are what they are, but games like this really have me questioning why I watch this league. Already I can see this is what the playoffs are going to be like again. Who the fuck needs the frustration of seeing which way the refs will blow on any given night?
The Leafs didn’t play great by any means, and especially Tavares and Marner never looked dangerous enough. I don’t know that we ever deserved to win, but that was some spectacularly poor officiating. Even if you ignore the egregious non-calls on Matthews and Liljegren, Colorado gets away with a good amount of holding and obstruction in the d-zone. I think it’s reputation – you’re viewed as a good defensive team, you get away with more “defense”.
Some silver linings though, Holmberg really looks excellent and Liljegren is rounding into a good top 4 defenseman. Rielly scored a nice goal as well. Jones wasn’t bad at all, but the last couple games are more in line with recent Martin Jones rather the world beater we’ve had the past few weeks.
Incredibly infuriating.
Where is any contribution from Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares..???
I hope this comes as a reality check. We had an easy stretch on the road, took the foot off the gas, too little too late, the stars did not play up to snuff today.
Might be the most frustrating loss of the season.
I couldn’t fucking care less if we trounce the Red Wings.
As long as we get clowned by quality teams we’ll never succeed in the playoffs.
Insane move by Keefe to run Marner, Matthews, and Nylander into the ground in a tie game. Absolutely no reason to shorten the bench to essentially two lines at that point in the game, just bizarre.
