Coach and you know this is what the kids mark on their calendars you remember certain games and you certainly always remember your homecoming game well there’s no doubt about that homecoming is always a special special game during football season or basketball season and one that uh not only the players but the
Fans look forward to well um bville is in town tonight it’s a team that’s uh even record with you this should on paper be a pretty good matchup oh they’re they’re playing pretty good basketball right now and they’ve um you know they’re Le led by uh tley he’s
Averaging about 20 points a game 62 guard Junior that um Can Flatout score I mean he can shoot the Deep three he can pull up and shoot the jump shot and he goes to the basket they’ll even post him up at times kid can really score um and
Then they’ve got Jackson McCain who’s probably the if not the best freshman in the area he’s one of the very best freshmen he’s 6-3 strong physical player uh that drives it hard to the basket scores well around the uh round the basket he’s he’s really really a nice
Player I mean I remember him playing in the conference uh tournament last year as an eighth grader and thought he was really a good uh really a good player and and um he’s continued that on at the varsity level he’s averaging in double figures as well and a a kid that um
Pretty physically strong kid uh for a fresh and then they have a the claner 64 65 kid inside that is capable of scoring as well and and the Willis kid is another freshman they start two freshman and he’s the coach’s son and uh the kid can
Flat out shoot the B at basketball I really thought your team kind of turned a corner last weekend got a win at North Knox gave Harry to chills all they could handle it was great to see and hopefully the team had a chance to see what
They’re really capable of well I I think so I I think that I thought we played pretty well in that ball game we made some mistakes few mistakes here and there defensively uh and you know made a few mistakes offensively led to some easy baskets those those um live ball
Turnovers really hurt us and I think they cost us like six points in the ball game and you know there’s some things we got to take care of uh in order to to win a game like that and hopefully we learn those things in that ball game and
And make us a better basketball team from here on out but I thought our kids competed hard uh played hard and really played pretty well throughout the basketball game against a very good basketball team one thing that doesn’t show up uh in the box scores is the play
Of Cooper right you know he doesn’t get a lot of points but I really am impressed with the way he’s handling the basketball for you well he’s you know that’s his job is take care of the basketball we talked to him is to hand on the basketball get the ball to uh get
Our offense started and get the ball to people that can score and and then he’ll hit the open shot himself I mean he he’s very capable he’s shooting the basketball well from the from the perimeter and and um so he he’s really done a nice job and and uh it’s nice
Having that kid that can that can do the things that he does for us and he’s been doing it for two years now and then I had a good talk with Colton’s dad this week um it was good to see him take the ball to the hole he’s like the second
Leading score I forget what list he showed me but he’s only been to the line like eight times well yeah he’s he’s got to be um uh play Stronger around the basket I mean he’s his outside shooting has been good and he’s been taking the
Ball to the basket some but he’s got a finish strong around the basket he did have some three-point opportunities that’s what we’ve been talking to our kids about is getting three-point opportunities and you we got to take on the contact and and score the basket uh
We’ve got to do a better job of finish around the around the basket we we missed way too many um layups or shots around the basket we got to do a better job of finishing those and even getting the end ones you’re starting lineup tonight uh we’ll start the same lineup

Present the annual John Wooden Legacy award to one boys and girls coach in each state it honor Scholastic basketball coaches around the country who are Educators and have achieved Excellence on the floor in the classroom and the community and this year’s recipient of the boys award from
Indiana is coach Jean Miller quite an honor quite an accomplishment yes great job very proud coach Miller uh his accom accomplishments speak for themselves and very deserving of that award and it was nice to see him recognized this evening 49 years he’s been doing this Kyle
753 wins to only 380 losses and if you ask coach I think he’s got a few more years in him he loves it he loves every minute of the high school basketball season yeah just uh what a career it’s all you can say no doubt about it and
Then tonight homecoming I love the homecoming intensity and the crowd the cheer block we’ve got ESPN down there in the student section in the cheer block I put a picture on our Facebook page you got to check that out there were some uh dinosaurs here earlier I think I still saw them they

Record shows to date and going to improve and I’m sure Booneville is the exact same way well we saw that Improvement in last weekend’s games Kyle really did I I told a coach in the pregame there felt like we kind of turned a corner especially in that
Heritage Hills game we had him on the ropes and a couple of things uh you know we’d like to have back in that game it could have been a different outcome but losing only to by five to a very good ball club last Saturday night well they
Just last weekend both games I felt really brought their intensity level up on both ends of the Court especially defensively and they just competed uh coach Miller mentioned that in his pregame last weekend against har chills he wanted his team to come out and compete and I would say last Saturday
Night was the first time that I’ve seen this season 32 minutes of a hatchet ball team that just competed and battled every possession and that’s what it takes uh to be successful and and to scratch out some wins some of those close losses that we had early in the
Season if we would have played with that sense of urgency and that type of intensity there’s no doubt in my mind some of those losses would have been wins early in the season Washington coming in at 4 and seven the Booneville Pioneers three and 10 we got more to
