Not just a PDO bender afterall

It’s nice to see the underlying stats tell a positive story, makes me more confident that we are so back.

  1. I get that it’s a stat, but should anyone really be expecting more than 2 goals against Winnipeg at this point?

I don’t understand or have put much effort in learning much of the stats beyond superficial knowledge. But I have wondered if there was maybe some sort of reason that we can’t quantify in coaching systems that would allow for the percentages in PDO to be inflated.

Like alot of the games you look at the score board and we’re winning say 1-0 and they have 9 shots on net and we have 3.

I just wonder if maybe it’s a combination of the system we’re playing not giving up good shot/opportunities, our depth/skill/offensive structure being able to break the opponent’s system to give us stronger goal opportunities where they’re capitalizing on opportunities more efficiently.

It’s fun to meme about pdo to the moon, but I do wonder if there’s just something that isn’t being quantified that is causing pdo to look so inflated.

u/artemchubarov is this something you have ever considered? I’m genuinely curious, but like I’ve mentioned I don’t know the the advanced stats very well.

I wonder if we can attribute any of this to Soucy. Team does seem much more structurally functional when he’s in the lineup. Underrated stabilizing element? Seemed like we were running Cole into the ground during his absence.

  4. There any stats for ozone possession time? that could tell the story that we are driving a lot of play and being super selective on actual shots.
