Hockey fans NEVER hear about this

Hockey fans NEVER hear about this

So we got a really interesting quote from Jeremy Swan who was voted by fans into the 2024 NHL allstar game this comes via Scott mlin Jeremy said after dealing with what I did this summer with arbitration hearing things that a player should never hear it feels pretty

Special to be in this situation and this is quite interesting because you don’t often hear players or general managers talk about arbitration other than it being a thing that sometimes happens for those who don’t know arbitration is used for NHL players who are rest red free

Agents and can’t agree to a deal with their team according to sportingnews.com there were 22 players who filed for salary arbitration in the 2023 off season how does it work well this is the interesting part essentially the team and the player as represented by their agent usually appear before a neutral

Arbitrator the player has to argue their value while the team is trying to argue down the players value and that’s why Jeremy Swan is saying that it was an unpleasant experience where he heard things that he otherwise wouldn’t have wanted to it’s an unfortunate situation because Team Management essentially is

Forced to bring up the worst aspects of the players what they see as their true weaknesses I’m sure a lot of these things the players are already aware of but teams might do everything from saying hey we’ve also got all marked to going deep into the analytics and saying

Oh San is really bad against shots from this part of the ice they joked on chicklets about how they’ll bring up anything even the fact that the dude doesn’t like showering with the boys after the game anyway just an interesting bit of insight into how that affects players I mean he’s still

Thinking about it now it happened in the off season where by the way he was given a salary of $3.4 75 million I’ll end this video with one tangential note I also want to talk about georgiev being voted into the All-Star game georgiev I

Mean I like the guy he was back up to shurka I’m glad that Colorado is finding success with him as their net minder but I mean just look at his stats he’s got a sub n safe percentage should he really be in the allstar game does fan voting

Really make a lot of sense I don’t know let me know your thoughts on georgev or whatever else you want down below

Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins, after being selected for the 2024 NHL all star game, talked about how hard the arbitration process was this summer. We’ll talk all about that and more on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Fan voting makes sense as long as you understand that fan is a derivative of the word fanatic.
    Great video. Thanks for posting!

  2. Ullmark and swayman are a fantastic duo and i think our achilles heel last year was not taking advantage of both of them, I understand the money concerns having two star goalkeepers on the team causes but hope we can keep them both without any further issues on the ice and off of it they both deserve success and prosperity on the bruins as much as any other cornerstone of the roster

  3. And now we know why samsanov went from a playoff calibre goalie to shell over the summer…. He deff still hearing what they said in the back of his head…

  4. Fan voting makes sense depending on how you view the "All Star Game". Is it best of the best or as fan voting would suggest, about players star power.

  5. To be fair the team offered him 2 for 2. He asked for 3 for 4.78 during negotiations. For Arbitration the max reward is 2 years. He got awarded 3.47 which is pretty dead in the middle. So the arbiter clearly agreed with a chunk of what Boston was saying.

  6. Swayman is incredible. He’s a huge reason the bruins have the record they do. The bruins aren’t as strong as they were last year, but swayman is trying to pick up the slack

  7. Swayman is excellent. Only reason he had to hear that crap is because it's an unfortunate side effect of the salary cap.

As for the "All-star game", it doesn't mean anything and no one cares. Congrats to the fanbases that were motivated enough to send all their players.

  8. It's like insurance or a warranty. They're trying to get out of paying more than they feel they should. I mean, you gotta see it from both sides. But having said this, if I'm an NHL player, I'm really not all that hurt by what they say personally. If, as a grown man, you can't disconnect the emotion from logic, over millions of dollars to play a sport, then you're not that strong of a person to begin with. The daily struggles of a pro sport athlete are not the same as an average person who makes a fraction of the income for a lot more work.

  9. As an Avs fan, Georgiev has been bad this year. Goaltending worries me so much and i think it will be the thing that prevents us from making a deep Cup run.

  10. As an Avs fan, I have to say that us voting him in shows the ignorance of the average Avs fan. He is complete garbage and it’s concerning to me that so many people think he’s performing well. I hope Sakic is not in that group and looking for a new goalie for playoffs for us. Haha

  11. Yeah man look theres a reason Geogie was a backup for so long and theres a reason the rangers ditched him for quick, who by the way has better numbers than Georgie, Quick shoud've gotten it

  12. Would’ve loved an underdog like Lyon in for goalie, dudes been on a heater the past few weeks

  13. Avs fan here. I think Georgiev is better than his stats would show. Probably part of the reason he was voted in has to do with the fact that he's got the most wins (and I think the most starts) so far this season. He's been overworked for sure, which may be part of the reason he's been a little inconsistent (and his save% hasn't been great) and is why I was actually hoping he wouldn't get voted in so he could get a break. Hopefully All-Star weekend is fun for him.

  14. georgies stats are a bit misleading, the team plays so well infront of him (most of the time) he doesn't really see a lot of shots. The ones he does see are usually high danger chances from massive break downs.

he could be better though and i do agree he probably shouldn't be in the asg this year.

  15. However bad people think arbitration is, it's worse. Trevor Linden, the absolute heart and soul of the Vancouver Canucks, was one told by the team during arbitration that "He was a bulls**t hockey player!" WTF?!

  16. 32 Thoughts had Swayman’s agent on and he said that a nice deal is going to happen for him to stay in Boston. Arbitration sucks, but he bet on himself and it looks like it’s gonna pay off.

  17. Sway deserves the world, as a bruins fan I can confidently say we love him and he’s blossoming into a TRUE top goaltender

  18. What I’ll say about giorgiev, is that yes he has a low percentage, but he gets hung out to dry by the Avs defense way too much, and when it counts, he fully pulls through towards the end of games, which is why he has as many wins as he does

  19. On the Georgiev thing- yes, his numbers have not been great this season, but as of the posting of this video, he was just named the third star of the week. So he’s showing signs of improvement!

  20. To comment on Georgeiv, as a avs fan, id say Georgeiv's stats really don't justify how he plays. He is a brick wall when it counts and needs to happen, and although the avs have a solid defense, this year in particular, I've never seen so many given up pucks by our defense when there shouldn't be. Georgeiv id have to say is our reason for not drowning, atleast til the defense gets their crap together and completely healthy.

  21. idk how easy it is for you to watch kraken games but if u ever wanna cover the team more this pens game is 100% the one to do. end of a record win streak, bad reffing the whole game, tons of injuries, questionable coaching decisions, the time change, and also just a decently fun game to watch even if kraken played pretty subpar (ill be the first to admit)

  22. Way back when, noted ‘nice guy’ and then GM of the Islanders, Mike Milbury, brought his RFA goalie, Tommy Salo, to tears during Salo’s arbitration hearing.

  23. The Bruins have always been super deep and the one thing that has always been their Achilles heel in the last few years was goaltending. It looks like they have a legit one-two punch in Swayman and Ullmark now and both are playing really well. Swayman deserves every penny he gets. Dude has been getting better every year since he came into the league.

Trust me, there's tons of teams that would sign Swayman in an instant. Good to hear Boston finally swallowed their pride and locked him up.

  24. Georgiev had better numbers last season but he has alot of wins this year. Other goalies are having better years but Georgiev deserves the acknowledgement. The Avs lean on him pretty hard. He carries alot more responsibility than most keepers

  25. Alexander Georgiev
    Александр Георгиев (lit. Aleksandr Georgiev)
The Russian G “Г” is the HARD G sound.
    Ghe Or Ghe Ev ✅
    Jee Or Jee Ev ❌

  26. I'd gladly dump Ullmark for Swayman as a 1A. I'm fine with Bussi backing up Swayman. Bruins could sell a bunch of Bussi jerseys.

  27. Georgiev is 24-9-2-2 and does have one of the leagues best win/loss records but his .896 GAA doesn’t even put him in the top 25 for that stat. But hey, Grant Fuhr is in the HHoF with a career .887 GAA 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
