When Matthews scored that 1st period goal and I cheered, I suspected they’d lose.
Willy really went on a heater for half a season, got the bag, and now is just gonna coast for 8.5 years. Gotta respect the hustle
Frustrating ending to the game. Brodie by far stands out as the guy who seems to be making just so many mistakes.
Not that it is as huge of a deal, but when Knies got cross checked to the ice there was a long shot of Brodie just watching him fall and doing nothing.
Muskoka Five 2: Any Blown Lead Will Do
The defense is so ass and cannot defend against any team that can cycle the puck. Rielly has been the best dman but has never been a strong defender. Brodie is absolutely washed and somehow is relied to play top 2 minutes. Lily gets bumped off the puck within a second. McCabe is busy jumping up on the play. Gio is on his last legs. The only redeeming dman outside of Rielly is Benoit. If that’s what you have for the season, just call it quits and sell before the playoffs. They are going to get swept by Florida if they manage to make it in.

It sucks to say but I’m about at the point where I think this season is a write off. If (and it’s a massive if) we stay in a playoff spot does anyone actually trust this team to win when it matters? You can’t honestly tell me we have ever looked as good as we did in past years. Our best chances were 21-22 and 22-23 and the team wasn’t even close. Now this year’s team definitely ain’t it.
Then next year is also a write-off because of Auston and Willy’s contracts getting put on the books with Tavares still on it. So I’ll keep watching the games obviously and I’d love to be wrong but I think our window is closed until 25-26. I’m not expecting a whole lot from this team until then.
I think conditioning is a huge issue for these guys. Alot of guys out of gas towards the end of these games. Come out the gate cranked get their cookies, but end the game with a fart.
What’s with these post-game interviews? Neither Marner nor Matthews admit any defensive issues. They just said, we’ve been good, just unlucky. Bullshit. All they gotta say is “we gotta be better defensively”. Why can’t they say it?
Mitch marner is everything that is wrong about this franchise right now. Zero accountability. They’re happy to just put in a decent effort but refuse to put in the effort required.
