The Red Wings have taken 11 of a possible 12 points in the first half of January, righting the ship after a difficult December. The latest two came off wins over the LA Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs on back-to-back days. Both were sound, complete games by the entire team. Dylan Larkin had 3 goals, and Andrew Copp had 2 across the two games, as they get hot at a great time for Detroit. Patrick Kane does get injured in Toronto, supposedly not hip related though. #lgrw

What a fun stretch. Toronto is my favorite team to beat in the league as a guy from Canada.
A couple of years ago, all four Detroit teams finished last, or near the bottom. Now, Lions in the second round of the playoffs, Red Wings a legitimate playoff contender, and the Tigers finished second in their division and could win it this year. The Pistons? Well, ( with regards to to the late Meatloaf) three out of four ain’t bad.

Copp has been criticized in other forums. Rightfully so. If he was aware of all the snipes, possibly it was that which spurred him on to start earning his keep.

I believe Darren McCarty once said that after Drapes got injured, that cemented the team together and they turned around and won two cups. What I saw in the team last night on the bench reminded me of that. I'm loving the play for each other mentality

I'm so happy to be a Detroit sports fan. I can't remember a single time in my 43 years that I've ever uttered those exact words, but it makes me feel amazing to see it. 11 points in our last six games for the Wings, the Lions make me proud with a playoff win for the first time since I was ten years old. Yo Tigers, Pistons, get with the program! We, whether we're in Detroit or in other cities (like me), need our hometown teams to run this! Let's friggin' GO!

At one point the leafs fans were chanting “Sammy, Sammy, Sammy” right after he stopped sprong at the end.
Wings scored about 1-2 min later. I jumped up celebrating, chanting “Sammy, Sammy, Sammy”… oddly the leaf fans around me weren’t laughing at my hilarious joke.
I’m surprised Brian didn’t talk about Rasmussen, he had an excellent PK, almost scoring then saving a goal by diving head first to block a shot. And this year I’m happy with Chairot he’s improved, also I can see Rasmussen getting an A, he seems to be a leader in the defensive zone making sure everyone is in the right spot
We need a Dan Campbell to coach the Wings

Feels like living a dream. U-M wins the national championship. Watching U-M since '73, just felt surreal. Kaner's breakaway goal against the Kings was just vintage Showtime.
When Kane skated off his knees looked just fine. The last thing before he left the ice was he falling hard on his hip. I believe it's the hip problem coming back. Backstrom lasted 40 games after his hip surgery before retiring.
Not making a full recovery after was expected.
I think the Patric Kane saga is over.
