The Lines May Change, but the Dallas Stars Offense Remains the Same! | Stars shutdown the Kings 5-1

The Dallas Stars changed up all but one line last night against the Los Angelas Kings and the offense didn’t miss a beat! Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson was a glimpse into the future for Stars fans everywhere. Pete DeBoer was not entirely pleased with the overall offense recently which is a crazy thought for a team that has averaged four goals per game in their last 15, but it worked. On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey explains how he loves that the Stars are not being stubborn or complacent about mixing it up. Yes, the offense has been great this season but the ability to change it up and get guys who have been struggling involved can unlock so much more. Evgenii Dadonov scored on the fourth line, Sam Steel was the best player with his new line-mates and also scored a shorthanded goal. The Stars are flexing their depth and that is something very new here in Texas. Next up Jake Oettinger. The Otter is back! Playing in his third straight game since returning from injury, he was superb. Joey highlights his presence and calmness in net last night even when things broke down. He let in one goal on the power play and that was it, a expected goals against of 4.38. Nice to have your number one goalie playing like it nearing the All-Star break. Also, Joey has updates on Scott Wedgewood’s injury and the defense in front of Otter last night. Finally, we take a look at the upcoming four game road trip of the Dallas Stars as they take on Eastern Conference opponents with the oppurtunity to close the gap in their own division. Philadelphia, New Jersey, the Islanders and Detroit are on the schedule and the Stars have played better on the road this season than home. Joey predicts how the Stars will do on the upcoming trip and highlights some things about each individual team.

  1. This shakeup has been long needed, I’ve been saying for awhile that Wyatt needed to be up on a line with hintz/pavs or hintz/robo and man did it look good. And of course you put Joe anywhere and he just works

  2. I mentioned this a few times prior. Wyatt going on the first line is the natural progression. Joe is literally training his replacement – on and off the ice.

Great on Pete to start with the lines this way. He didn’t have to claw back from a deficit in the third. They got the lead early and kept it, the entire game.

For Steele. I hope we keep him. I think he can grow in this team. He’s like Ty with all of the upsides, a better shot, and half the penalties.

Unfortunately I think Ty may be on the chopping block. I know they want him for injury relief in the playoffs, but the defense is the closest alligator to the boat right now.
