Might be worth packaging him with Vladar or Lindholm at this point. I think he could still be a decent middle six guy elsewhere but I kinda feel he’s run his course within our system, unfortunately. Sucks because when he was on, he was *on* but now it just feels like he’s taking up a roster spot from someone like Pelletier (when he’s healthy again) or Coronato

Dillon ‘basically Curtis Lazar’ Dube.
Also, this got me on a rabbit hole comparing them and Dubé is essentially Lazar x 1.15 in the stats department.

We should just package Vladar and Dube for a 5th. That way a team can have a solid backup for a 5th instead of a 3rd. And see what Dube can do in the bottom 6.

Back-to-back 18 goals seasons and 45 points (39 even strength points; 5th on the team and 9 behind Toffoli’s team leading 48) last year. Don’t think he suddenly forgot how to play to hockey.
It’s a bad year and maybe he needs a change of scenery because he’s not meshing with this coaching system, but a buy high, sell low philosophy is a pretty dumb way of doing things. He wouldn’t be the first young-ish player to have a bad season before rebounding the following year.

Once upon a time I though Dube had potential to be a Cammalleri type player. How wrong I was.

Could waive him and I highly doubt he gets claimed.

I’ve seen some real moments of magic in his play over the last few years. One that sticks out is the play he made in overtime to toe drag past McKinnon and then make a fantastic breakaway pass to Monahan (I think) for the OT winner. I’ve really hoped to see more of that.
My issue with Dube is that he hasn’t been consistent and I think that he is now taking up space that someone else should probably be filling.
