I feel like the NHL needs to have a serious talk about what the spirit of each rule is and why the challenge is a thing.
Leafs situation room saved the game for them.
Would anybody object to, "Not in the spirit of the rule, good goal"?
if it wasnt for this callback, leafs woulda given up another 2 goal lead in 5 consecutive games…

Since when can a coach use a challenge to check for a handpass? I thought it was only for goal tender interference or offsides? That said no challenges should be able to look further than 20 seconds back into a play.
I’m still convinced a leaf touched that puck first after coleman got it with the glove. Therefore it shouldn’t have mattered anyway

Its the right call. Go read the rules. The intention doesn't matter, it turned into a hand pass and it was deliberately deflected by the glove and ended on a teammate's stick.
The rule is very clear to people who have a minimum of reading comprehension.

NHL needs to do something about these replays. Every goal the bench is looking down like Lawyers trying to find any loophole to get their team off the hook. This is NOT what the replay system was intended for !
All these refs, video judges, linseman, officials, even coaches , all these so called experts have to get out and let the players decided the game. There ruining it.

we dont want the players to grab or redirect the puck with their hands. he actively reached for the puck, redirected it with his hand and his teammate was the next to play the puck. right call.
Not only was it not a hand pass, but Tavares actually hits the puck before Osterle does… which would negate the 'hand pass'

It's a dumb rule when it goes against your team is what I am hearing 🙂 If a missed hand pass results in the cup winning goal well that's okay as long as it's my team that wins. Rules in the game are for a reason and this rule makes sense and is well defined and players know it.
This was bullshit. Refs were likely just tired of hearing leaf fans cry so he said , " give em the win". What a joke.
