Just one of those nights for us,too many mistakes happens to every team not just the red wings Detroit fans remember that.
The only player I thought in my opinion who did well was Alex Lyon ,he kept us in it once again.but offense didnāt have it tonight,so Iām not stressing or tipping at all like a lot of idiotic redwings fans would go bananas thinking the season is over ,and make random dumb excuses over just one single loss.weāre still in a very good position here,we should be proud of our team with that remarkable winning road streak and now our first regulation loss in January.weāre not going to win every game no team does.
Not just the Wings, NO TEAM can win a game shooting only 12 shots on goal. The Canes goalie had less than a .9 average compared to Lyon's over .9 average. If the Wings had played more aggressive and taken more shots on the Canes' goalie, they would have had a much better chance to win, but they didn't test their goalie, and as a result, their goalie didn't beat our goalie (Lyon), he beat the Detroit Red Wings tonight b/c of a sham performance, especially by the Wings' first line or two. The Wings' third and fourth lines grind things out for the Wings and are playing much better than the first 2 lines. Fischer, Rasmussen, Sprong, Fabbri, and company from lines 3 and 4 are playing their hearts out, while the first couple of lines are doing exactly what? The Wings NEED TO LEARN how to possess the puck, put a body in front of the opposing net as a screen, put eyes and a body on their most productive player, and STOP PASSING THE PUCK MORE THAN NEEDED. Take the damn shot at the goal already!!! Too many passes, rather than shots at the net, will make you lose scoring opportunities. Where is John Tortorella when you need him? Wings need to nix Lalonde and hire Tortorella. Wings could have won this game. Carolina is not that great a team. The Wings just slacked off today by barely getting a dozen shots on goal. These guys are making too much money in the pros to only take 13 shots on goal. Hopefully, we won't see anything like this from the Wings for the rest of the season, allowing for an average goalie on the Canes' to beat the Wings, who decided not to test that goalie's skills. Remember, his average was .8, not even a .9 average. Wings could have beat this team tonight, but they beat themselves.
Compher makes off ice decision like an on ice play with needing to communicate the interview needed to move over for others. True sign of great guy, great leadership and team mindset. Love to see it.
