InGoal Radio Episode 89 with Niklas Rubin and Troy Grosenick

In this week’s episode, presented by the Hockey Shop Source for Sports (https://www.thehockeyshop.com/pages/goal) , we chat about the recent free agency period, the goaltender the signings and their potential impact around the league.

We also head (virtually) to Sweden to speak with goaltender Niklas Rubin of the storied Frölunda franchise — whose most famous alumnus goalie is none other than Henrik Lundqvist. We found Rubin, who was leading the Swedish Hockey League at the time of recording with three shutouts in four games for a 0.76 GAA and a .962 SV%, through a newspaper article detailing an unusual on-ice training method he has used since last summer. Beyond innovative training with his goaltending coach Kristoffer Martin we talk about Swedish Hockey, his own development and current game-day routines as well as an interesting look at mental fatigue and his use of breathing exercises in-game to remain sharp. We’re sure you’ll find a number of great ideas in this interview to bring to your game the next time you step on the ice.

And in our second feature interview we catch up with seven-year veteran Troy Grosenick, who is coming off a .920 season in the AHL, to talk about what it’s like to be a part of this game of goaltending musical chairs after he signed with the Los Angeles Kings, and get some bonus input on the stress of life in the NHL playoff bubble with a baby on the way back home, how posture played a role in his steady rise over the past four seasons, and how this second offseason reminds him of youth hockey as he gets changed in parking lots loaded with NHL players.

In the Gear Segment sponsored by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, Woody and Cam go through the entire line of Bauer Helmets looking at innovations for comfort and protection as well as choosing the right helmet for your game.
