The NHL’s Most INTERESTING Goalie 🧐 – The NHL is experiencing the worst goaltending season since the ‘05 lockout and Alexander Georgiev is one of the most interesting cases in the league Georgiev leads the league with 20 wins this year Despite that he has a save percentage of 0.898 goals against average of 2.90 and a 5V5 GSAA of -3.94 All of these statistics would put him in the bottom 10 of qualified NHL starters The Avs seem to be winning in spite of him more than Georgiev helping them if Georgiev can get back to even a league average number The Colorado Avalanche could very well run away with the Western Conference

  1. He was terrible last night and they still won 🤦🏻‍♂️.. also feel like teams are blocking way less shots then they used to but i can be wring about that.

  2. He is horrible! The only reason he has all these wins under his name is because of the offense. If he keeps playing this way, Avs will have an early playoff exist.

  3. This is the problem with the NHL. The people invent problems instead of just enjoying the game. This is the same guy who'll cry that the NHL isn't scoring enough and it's because the goalies are too good or their pads are too big.

  4. I mean goal scoring is up and goal tending is down league wide. We are past the days of goalies going 70 games a season. I don’t think the goal tending issues of the league isn’t an issue that needs to be addressed at all.

  5. who knew that changing the rules to push for more goals would lead to worse goalie stats. Quit ragging on them for something outside their control

  6. So let’s change the rules where you basically can’t even touch the guy without getting a penalty, start making 500$ composite sticks a rookie can snipe with and let them dangle around everyone. You go in net and see if you can do any better.

  7. It’s just a cycle. Players get better and score more goals, goalies get better because of that and less goals are scored. Then players have to get better because of goalies. Etc etc. just look at history

  8. Goalies have a lot more responsibilities than just saving goals. I wonder if he's doing a lot more that translates to possessions and goals, rather than being the elite net protector.

  9. It’s because they shrink pads every year, they don’t call goaltender interference anymore, and they do everything but change rules in f air of them.

  10. Look at the Devils, two ok goalies and even with our above average offense, we can’t win. Our D sucks VV can save a puck for his life. goaltending is going to be a problem for the Devils and even the rest of the league for a few years

  11. He’s not horrible but he’s definitely not playing up to the level he can. I believe he’s over worked. The avs don’t have a true back up because everyone is hurt so they have to lean on Georgiev a lot more than they should. Dudes probably really tired

  12. Maybe it’s not bad goaltending maybe it’s better offense? The NHL wants more scoring, they are getting more scoring.

  13. Perhaps the fact that scouts have put a hard minimum height of 6’3 on goalies has something to do with it? If that had been in place previously we wouldn’t have Tim Thomas, Marty Brodeur, Patrick Roy, and so many others.

  14. Its killing our game… We penalize anyone who dares to play defense & give more & more advantages for the offense & its all because ppl are ignorant & think only offense is entertaining when in reality goaltending can be just as entertaining if not more in some circumstances

  15. I think you can’t look at that number and get a full picture, it’s not a large enough sample size to say if it’s him or not.

Nhl plays are fucking hard to stop and if the Avs are letting him take 2 on 1s it quickly can fuck those numbers up.
