Could there be a coaching change coming for Maple Leafs?

Director of Scouting Craig Button joins Jay Onrait to discuss the issues the Maple Leafs had against the Canucks on Saturday night, needing to get off to better starts, and if head coach Sheldon Keefe’s job is in jeopardy.

  1. It’s almost impossible to build a well-rounded championship roster when the core four increasingly dominates the payroll. ✔️

  2. Not soon enough. You can’t keep switching lines up, moving 4th liner up to the top line. As for their D, it’s sucked for well over a decade that the former GM failed to fix.

  3. Shanahan is the one responsible, he has been in charge for 10 years now, he is the architect of this team. The GMs , one allowed to do as he wished and now another just keeping with the Presidents philosophy. Team D is inconsistent, Matthews and Marner and Nylander play D when they desire. When they get embarrassed they play harder in all aspects, when things are going well they fall back into their lazy ways

  4. Leafs got roughed up by the Canucks and Keefe has the toughest guy in the NHL sitting in the press box

  5. Ok change Coaches to who? This team needs a bastard to get butts in gear. A powerhouse that has free reign to get these players to play TOGETHER.

  6. Liljegren, Brodie, Knies, Bertuzzi, Domi, Robertson, Tavares all look lost and useless for the last 20+ games. This is a below average team playing well above their ability right now, this will not get better. This team is a below average team with 4 good individual players and it's not even close to balancing out. Doesnt matter how this team plays, the fact they are here in the standings means coach MUST be fired. Not his fault, but he must be fired.

  7. The oilers are built better. They do have some good d men they have a hart and soul guy in Hyman and skinner has turned it around so a coaching change wouldn’t result in the same in Toronto

  8. Vancouver showed resolve and determination and did something that the Leafs haven't done after losing leads Regained it!!
Tochett called at time out said what had to be said , minutes later scored the 4th goal.

  9. A loss to hte Kraken tonight will almost guarantee it .25th in the leaugue on the PK (77%) will not cut it for a team that is supposed to be a Cup contender .The poor PK is totally on the coaching staff .Losing Kerfoot and Achari doesnt help either

  10. Keefe 100% needs to go. His decisions have been AWFUL and show pure desperation with no strategy.

  11. You know it's getting bad even when Keefe supporters are starting to turn on him.

It's not going to happen. People have said he should have been fired 5 years ago.

  12. Reiily's doing TV commercials now, Craig. You wouldn't expect him to get tough in front of his net and maybe bruise his meal ticket face or get some stitches. SEVEN OR EIGHT MIL A YEAR as a hockey player isn't enough I guess. And then there's a post hockey carreer to think about. He could go into broadcasting and point out to viewers all the shortcomings and things certain players shouldn't do , which coincidentally are likely the same shortcomings he had a a player. After all, he has tons of experience with shortcomings!

  13. Bring Babcock back he probably still getting paid, 50 million dollars contract, lol. Only corporations can afford the tickets with a tax deduction. 😅

  14. The Leafs purposely designed their team to be one that has to outscore their problems, and this is why they go on to lose games 6-4. No $ for defence of goaltending and it’ll only be worse next season.

  15. The Leafs have gone through a series of coaches since they were considered a contender and had virtually the same results. At some point, it's not about coaching. The team just isn't good enough. Sure, they can score, but the Canucks have been able to score for the last 3 or 4 years. Until this year, it didn't help them. Sure, a systems coach could help, but everything from the blue line back to the goalie just isn't good enough. And this has been an ongoing problem, along with their star players disappearing in the playoffs. It seems like when the games get more intense and details matter more, Toronto is unable to respond. Again, as a Canucks fan, I identify with that because even in the regular season, the attention to detail in Vancouver wasn't where it needed to be. Or maybe they just don't have a personnel on the ice to get the job done.

  16. Unsurprisingly he had nothing bad to say about the GM of this team, he has assembled what is probably the worst bottom-6 of any team that's (currently) in the playoffs.
