As I've said for a long time the lack of physical defensemen or a defensive scheme the penguins will suffer these type of losses.
I was disappointed that the penguins didn't retain Dimitri kulikov. I think he is the third pair defenseman this team has needed. Unfortunately, he was hurt when acquired last season and didn't get to show much, but he is solid, has size, and can defend. Oh, and affordable.
P.O. look promising early. Hes a lost puppy out their half the time. Theres no consistency or identity he brings to his shifts on the ice. God please let this not be DEI related….🤦♂️
I just don’t think this coaching staff develops non star players well. Middling players remain middling here.
For the past year or so, I've been texting my cousin when we have a 2-0 lead, "Oh no, two oh".
This loss feels like a big one. The win was so close and would have a been a huge boost of confidence and a big help in the standings.
After that J1Q…then I'm so glad…JARRY is signed for 5 years..5 mill a year!!!(sarcasm)
When your so called best defensive defencemen is getting bullied in front of the net, well that's a big problem
Hate to say it, but we need to trade Geno. His effort isn't there enough. Hate to say this even more, we need to trade Jake. Just for the fact that we can't lose him for nothing. We could get into the Jake sweepstakes this summer and try to bring him back, if possible.
Ah, the typical come from ahead loss that I knew would happen as soon as I saw 2-0 in the second period. I stopped following them at that point as to not go to bed annoyed but knowing what was going to happen anyway didn't help. I will say I expected the loss to come in OT, not regulation, so they did surprise me there. BTW: The dead weight this team is carrying is the sack of borscht and bones centering the 2nd line, and making $6.1 million a year. POJ's league minimum contract can easily be flushed one way or another. Malkin's is an anchor and a figurative albatross around this team's neck.

They should probably move on from POJ and use him as trade bait for a legitimate 3rd pairing D-man. Unfortunate considering he started all of last year, looked decent and had a great training camp this year. At least Graves is playing noticeably better.
He is black and the league wants more of it. Throw in a few women if you can.
In spurts, jarry is either a top five goalie in this league or bottom five goalie. How many times have we said “jarry was ok” or “jarry was just good enough” it’s either shutout or Swiss cheese.
I think it is the case of the Pens having too many PO type players. You could get away with having one of those on D (Pettersson) but not 3 of them! They have PO, Graves, and Pettersson all lanky, tall, and light on their skates and easily pushed around, who cant clear the crease. Half of the D cant get it done in critical ways. That's really bad when several of our forwards arent so interested in playing D or they just cant play D. Ed
A lot of the reason they don’t have the right personnel is because everyone seems to have an extraordinarily ridiculous bromance with Erik Karlsson! Without that outrageous cap hit, we might have been able to have a couple of decent movers and shakers in the lineup.
Geno is floating with no tenacity or conviction or passion! He no longer can hide behind Crosby and ride on his coattails. No more excuses.

We aren’t scoring enough goals and we don’t FINISH but nobody talks about that either. 22nd in the league in Goals per game and despite all the offseason moves we’re actually worse offensively than we were last season but we have improved defensively. Dosent matter how good or bad the defensive is, especially in the regular season, if you aren’t scoring enough goals you aren’t gonna make it to the dance, especially with how the game is played nowadays. I feel so bad for Jarry and Ned we aren’t giving them nearly enough support this season. They almost have to be absolutely perfect or amazing every single night or we might not win. Not a formula to make the playoffs!

This teams #1 concern has to be the absolutely EMBARRASSING PATHETIC powerplay. We aren’t making it until it gets better. No other way.
