  1. While subject to change, I have a hundred percent faith in this man. I think he’s made some great acquisitions, and is very levelheaded. More importantly, I think he’s building a great culture.

  2. ThatsNotDiscoOfYou

Huge regardless of the ups and downs this kind of stability is what well run franchises do. Fitz has clearly shown an upward trend since taking over from sHero

Remember that time Minnesota chose Paul Fenton?

  3. TheTechManager

I got back on forth on the fire Lindy train but I have 100% faith in Fitz! Glad they locked him up before they did something stupid

  4. This is the right move. A lot has gone wrong this year and sure you could probably blame him a bit for the goalie situation (although it’s been documented he has clearly been looking since the summer). But as a whole, he has done a great job since he started. Consistency is important for an organization’s long term success

And this sub explodes with terrible takes in 3…2….1..
    .

But in all seriousness, awesome. Fitz has built a solid core, developed our talent, and is only a few pieces away from being a true contender. Also he hasn’t made and stupid panic decisions like too many people on this sub would.

Biggest mistake. Goodbye playoffs and a strong team.

    I feel sorry for Jack.

Sat next to fitzy in Hoboken before the season after a routine practice and he downed 10 beers causally, let’s just say brace yourself tonight Hoboken.

Fitzy is the best thing to happen to for devils in the new era.

  9. McRibs2024

Guess the ownership group didn’t check out the fire fitzy fest that’s been happening over the last few days

  10. skyturnedred

What does President of Hockey Ops even mean?

  11. chrishic99

I said it once I’ll say it again; fitzjesus is the best. He’s stuck in a weird predicament right now. He has a coach that just broke single season records in wins and points for this franchise that is trying to work without his most skilled forward and defenseman. I’m not saying Lindy is the answer (or should even be coaching this team) but you gotta at least respect what he did last year. Same goes for the goaltending, we had our first 30 win goalie outside of the GOAT. Yes he overachieved but nobody saw a drop off THIS HARD coming in. Fitz has been looking for a goalie since the offseason, and the acquisition price is just too much.

If he doesn’t trade for a goalie; we’re stuck with what we have.

If he does trade for a goalie; everybody complains that he paid too much for one and he wasted assets that we could be using in other places and shortening our window.

Fitz is an INCREDIBLE gm and has my full trust. There’s a reason he’s running a team and none of us are, so let’s leave it at that.

Fuck the Fitz haters, obviously you don’t know what poor management looks like. Be grateful.

  13. ScrewOff_

Doing this in the middle of a year where we should be competitive but arent because Fitz dropped the ball on goaltending is wild.

Team is still one of the best teams in the leafue in goals for with all the injuries, but having guys you cant rely on to stop the puck (goalies!) has held us back and every individual/advanced goalie stat shows all of our goalies dead last in the league.

Excuse the year all you want with injuries but the true fact is Fitz not addressing goaltending is the main reason we’re not where we should be right now, sorry.

  14. Schnevets

People have suddenly become vocal about the Toffoli trade, goalie situation, or letting UFA D-men walk, but I don’t think ownership is judging Fitz on one-off actions. The fact is he built a top-quality scouting program and seems to have a lot of loyalty across the organization. I don’t think people realize the ripple effect losing Fitz would cause.

  15. Anonycron

    This sub:

    * Hates the coach he hired and extended.
    * Hates that our roster isn’t deep enough to withstand all of these injuries.
    * Hates that we are relying on rookie defensemen.
    * Hates that we are stuck with the league’s worst goalie squad.

    Yet… loves the GM.

I know I should stop expecting the internet to be rational, but this one is really hurting my brain. Ya just can’t be over the top angry and emotional about those 4 bullet points and then conclude the GM is your hero. That doesn’t square up.

And no, this is not a suggestion that you should stop loving Fitz. It is that you should gain some perspective and emotional maturity about how this season has gone. It isn’t Lindy’s fault, it isn’t our trainers fault, it isn’t Brendan Smith’s fault, it sure as hell isn’t Tyler or Timo’s fault.

As for Fitz, seems clear he is playing the long game here. He wasn’t going to make panic moves to shore up this season if it meant saddling us with long term contracts on aging players. The goal is to build a sustainable team that can compete for the cup over many years. Not min-max for this year. If that means we have an off year like this one, so be it. Stay the course.

And by the way, this team with half an AHL roster and the leagues worst goalies is still not out of it. That says something.

  16. Word is that he wouldn’t release the stadium series jerseys unless he was extended and promoted.

  17. ResidentPiccolo6804

Is Kate Madigan now in line for GM? She was running hockey ops prior to Fitz’ hire and she would be the first female GM in hockey history

I tried making a thread about this but, as usual, Reddit is a karma farm video game; not just a forum board for open discussion

  18. Lawngisland

good now fire lindy and get behind the bench like lou wouldve

  19. artestsidekick

I believe in Fitzy, but he is where he stands:

    **Wins**:

    Re-signing Jack

    Re-signing Bratt,

trade (3rd round pick) and re-signing Siegs,

    Signing Hamilton,

    Trading Smith for Marino,

    Trading for Lazar,

    Trading for Colin Miller (pick)

    Drafting Mercer, Hughes, Nemec

    Signing of Cal Foote.

    **To Be Determined:**

The Meier trade (mostly bad luck of how injured Meier has been) given how good Zetturland has looked and Shakir Mukhmadalin is still a high level prospect plus the picks.

    The Toffoli/Sharangovich trade.

McLeod contract being 1 year may end up biting us as he could be priced out of NJ next season.

Drafting, have loads of prospects who have yet to make an impact as it is too early.

    Lindy v Brunette

    **Losses**:

Not improving our goaltending in the off-season and not improving our goaltending coach.

Palat contract being too long and too expensive. Has to move this contract out so we can afford to re-sign Toffoli, McLeod, a real goalie, etc…

Not improving our bottom of the lineup/extra skaters coming into the season (Nosek was a fine acquisition, but Tierney and Willman were never going to be logical options for more than 2-3 game stints.) Guys like Sprong, , and many others received cheap contracts and would have been upgrades over most of our 4th liners and extras.

  20. erikruff8

This is 100% deserved. He built a hell of a roster and he is going to make it even better in time. The only bad move, imo, was not making Andrew Brunette the head coach and even that was tough to make given the circumstances last year. I’m trusting Fitz way more than Shero.

  21. -PoeticJustice-

No doubt well-deserved. He’s objectively put the team in one of the best roster construction/management situations in the league. He can’t control injuries, and maybe he knows or plans something we don’t know regarding the head coach situation. Remains to be seen if Lindy can take this team to the next level, but fact of the matter is we have been decimated by injuries throughout the season.
