  1. I hear the question about that second year, and I tie it back to "contender teams are less confident" is it just so few teams dare to hope for a dynasty that they give up on contending two years in a row?

  2. Man, if montreal holds on to savard until next year they will lose ALOT of value on a trade.

He's signed reasonably but he's 33 years old and has only managed 23 out of half the season ish games.

If the canadiens could retain like 1 million, all of a sudden he is a 2.5 million dollar good defenseman 2 playoff runs. That gives cost certainty to teams and it will add alot of value.

If montreal waits until the offseason or next year's deadline he will be a 34 year old hired gun. The value would drop.

The value may be as large as 1st round pick + good prospect compared to 3rd round pick plus good prospect.

Savard would be perfect for the leafs it would give them an ok replacement for really good value of thebleafs could get montreal to hold onto 1 million.

This could definitely be something similar to when Jake mccabe went to the leafs from Chicago.

  3. The Leafs have one guy in the type of player Hughes trade for in Nick Robertson.. always seems stuck in that lineup and underappreciated. This could be an interesting trade for a defenseman even if they are a division rival.
