According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, it sounds like defenceman Travis Hamonic will attend Canucks training camp on a PTO (professional try out).
Similar to the Mike Hoffman PTO with the Blues, this gives the Canucks the inside track on signing Hamonic…though it’s certainly not a guarantee that Hamonic will make the team out of camp.
This also signals that Micheal Ferland will likely be placed on LTIR.
Hopefully we’ll learn more tomorrow when Jim Benning and Travis Green meet with the media to kick off Canucks training camp.

The 2020-2021 NHL season will start on January 13, 2021 and will see each team play 56 games, all within their division.
The divisions are:
North (Canadian Division): Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets

Hamonic = a cheaper Tanev. A bit of a downgrade maybe.

I was hoping for Vatanen, but I think this is still a good potential addition. We were definitely short a legit d-man
seems good… age 29. right now Benn is the 5th and 6th would be a no experience rookie … so certainly seems fairly critical.. to essentially replace Stetcher… perhaps a little stronger D than last Yr? Don't know if he is better or not or is more or less Cap ??

I just hope both joulevi and rafferty will get a real chance to play nhl games this year. They deserve a shot at next level. Hope they prove that in trainingcamp. Maybe it will be injurys and covid so they will get a chance anyway. I would like to see Sven, Loui and Benn in taxi since they have no future in canucks. And hawryluk, Hoglander, joulevi, rafferty in canucks 23 player squad. Will canucks go 14 forwards or 8 defenceman?
Hamonic and Tanev so similar in style and roles.. Would WAY rather have Hamonic on a cheap one-year deal than four years of big money on Tanev. I love Tanev but so many long miles on his frame.

Man it's going to be crazy to watch Calgary – Vancouver play 10 times this year then hopefully in the post season. This is going to be the craziest year for fights and rivalries. With all the x Canucks ➕ a Tkachuk on their team it's going to get nasty 👊 🚑
