This is great for the NHL

Patrick Roy is officially back in the NHL! After another OT loss against the Chicago Blackhawks last night, the New York Islanders officially fired Lane Lambert. In a move absolutely no one saw coming though, they hired Patrick Roy. While there had been rumblings he would come back, this was not how I saw it happening but I’m excited. He had some incredible moments in the NHL both as a player and as a coach. From his fight with Bruce Boudreau in his first game in the NHL, to pulling the goalie with 10 minutes to go regularly to his “balls on the table” comments. There is never a dull moment but he also backed it up, he won a Jack Adams in Colorado and left there with a winning record. I cover that and more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. I heard this news on my phone yesterday afternoon while at work and it a game changer to have a psycho coach in Patrick Roy either they go on a cup final run or explodes in their faces

  2. as a blackhawks fan.. isles. go join calgary and san jose in the “losing to the bedardless blackhawks” group.

  3. I think most people have a love/hate relationship with perry. Including Bedards mom. Too soon? He's Dirty, but a good player that doesn't deserve to be canceled. There's 3 sides to every truth. His, hers, and what really happened. It takes 2 to tango. Players sleep with teammates wives, but that's ok. I know I'm off topic but him egging Roy on is classic. It'll be nice to see roy back in the fold. Even if he's on a team that no one cares about

  4. As an Islanders fan this is amazing! Wish Barry Trotz was still behind the bench but Roy is a big upgrade from Lane Lambert. Can't wait for the game tonight!

  5. This didn't just happen. This has been in the works since at least the Kings game on Dec 9th that Roy actually mentioned in his intro presser.

  6. Patrick Roy is an amazing goaltender; legendary, even.
Is he a great head coach, though? Not really. Listening to him speak, I get the impression he took a few too many pucks to the dome while wearing pre-modern helmets.
