The Edmonton Oilers have gone from last place in the NHL to a playoff spot in the span of one month. In this video, I break down how they did this thanks to their improved goaltending, improved structures thanks to Kris Knoblauch, the McDavid Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Zach Hyman line, and getting some puck luck back on their side.

The Oilers just beat the Blue Jackets 4-1 to extend their winning streak to 14. Just 3 away from tying the record set by the Pens.
As a Caps fan, I saw the win Edmonton put together the night they played and knew the beast had awakened.
It's unlikely to be to the same thing but its like when the Blues went from dead last to the cup in 2019.
The biggest question going forward into the season will be if Skinner can hold this level or even level up or if he is currently just overperforming and the opponents underperforming against him and the oilers
Two very winnable home games before the All-Star break (Chicago, Nashville) then a tough game on the road (Vegas.) I'm going to say 16, but they fall short. If they win that one, they could win against Anaheim to get to 18, but the back to back with Los Angeles the next night on the road is also very easy to lose. Probable 16, best 18.
š¤ itās Canada tho lmao there cursed. McOilers can win 100 in a row but they choke in the playoffs just the same as the Maple Leafs. Idk why you guys still get hyped for these Canadian teams. Roy cursed you all š
Stanley cup winners 2024 !!!!
They went 14-0-1 to finish last year with essentially the same team.
Admittedly, I didnāt predict the comeback to be so quick and strong, but the talent was always there. Those who were calling for Hollands head should now be thanking him for not making a dumb panic move.
I think a big difference is the confidence Knob has in the depth lineup. Woodcroft was constantly shifting lines and riding Connor and Leon when they were down playing them 24-25 minutes a game and burning out them before playoffs. Knob has created a more balanced and confident team by trusting McLeod, Fogele, Ryan, Gags, etc
crazy to think they have 3 top 20 lines in those statistics
Coach of the year? I have a feeling they will be bounced in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Do Tampa Bay next, they'll be back at the Stanley Cup Finals before you know it.
Excellent content, brilliant prep and presentation .. keep'm coming
I'm sorry I think I'll get my sports commentary off TSN or Sportsnet or something instead of some kid on the internet…
How do yāall think woodcroft feels after seeing the rise of his old team?
Can someone please give me the top 2 or 3 reasons why Corey Perry is so darn potent come playoffs?
Dont underestimate the D zone changes instituted by Knoblauch from a hybrid 3-2 to a zone, and the empowerment of the D to make plays up the middle of the ice. a Zone D with better in zone puck support, and an empowered D group allow the Oilers to be significantly better at exiting the zone. This is a massive reason for their better defending and much better results all over the ice
The 1992-1993 Pittsburgh Penguins hold the NHL record for the most consecutive wins in a season. However, did they win the Stanley Cup? No. In the playoffs, the defending Stanley Cup champions were eliminated by the New York Islanders, who were then eliminated rather easily by the Montreal Canadiens. Most players and fans would rather have their team win the Stanley Cup. A consecutive win streak for the OIlers is fine for players and fans, but it is no guarantee of Stanley Cup success.
Make it 14 in a row now haha
Iād love for Edmonton to challenge the win streak record, but I think Nashville or Vegas are going to end it
Is this a bot reading a script?
