When asked about the changes, Marty said "It's just part of the season… …I liked our response in the 3rd period last game"
Slaf, Monahan and Armia are all playing their asses off.
The Habs are gearing up for one of their biggest trade deadlines and draft. It’s a year to give as many guys a look in different situation to showcase our assets. Slaf will be a beast for us when it starts to matter. Anderson is a beast in the playoffs and teams know it. I trust the Habs management more than the mtl fan base. Fans but not necessarily hockey minds. This management group will make the Habs a contender for years. I love where the Habs are headed. They’re building the best team we will have seen in over 2 decades. Keep up the great work guys.
trying to pump andersons stats to trick someone into taking him?
From an indifferent point of view. Slaf should be in the AHL where he would thrive. He looks so uncomfortable in the NHL. He's constantly making wrong decision when to shoot and how to shoot. His passing is all over the map (too hard, too soft, east west when it should be north south). Look at him on the PP. He looks like OV of today. Just standing off to the side with no hope of getting a shot, and if by chance does, misses or execution too slow. If no AHL, he needs to study film of Matthews or Hyman.
Slaf's always been most confident with monahan tbh
MSL to Laval to work on his coaching.
anderson worst saison so far put him on the first line…
Was at the game at Bell center yesterday . Slaf seemed to be lost on the ice for a bit yesterday and made a couple of bad pass. If anything being demoted from the first line will allow slaf to motivate him to grind back to the top line.
"Slaf was all over the puck…"? I love ya brother but that has never been the case! This kid rarely touches the puck. He has 1a, 0g, 1s and -8 in 60 minutes of ice-time the last 3 games!!! Last night he was on the PP for nearly 5 minutes, did he register a shot, make a play, create an opportunity? In a game as emotionally charged as this one, the 6-3, 230lb kid had a single hit and it couldn't hurt a fly. These numbers can get coaches fired. What are others on the bench thinking when Slaf gets a Hall Pass EVERY GAME for doing NOTHING on the ice and being rewarded with 5 min on the PP? As someone who played compeitively I can tell you, it doesn't sit well and can put a rift among the players. You can be a Fan for sure but don't piss away credibility backing a horse with no heart.
Its a good move. Either Anderson lights it up and ups his trade value ahead of the deadline, or he sucks the life out of that line and we start losing a bit more. We are not making the playoffs at this rate, why not tank a bit. The absolute best-case scenario with tanking is trading Anderson for a prospect or picks and we finish bottom 5. Either way, this fits the rebuild game plan.
Slaf also could afford to play on the second line, I think he wasnt quite to the level/speed of Suzuki and Caufield. He seemed panicked or surprised by some passes and plays, slowing it down a bit on the second line could be good for him.
No problem with this move at all. It might not produce goals or wins, but big picture thats okay right now.
I don’t mind Slaf on 2nd line. I think he is better suited to that at this time. When Slaf improves his shot then the 1st line would make sense for him
Slaf Roy Monahan would be a good line
Showcasing Anderson, Dont overthink it boys.
Tank for Celebrini
Hope the Habs tank and get a chance at Celebrini. Trade Monahan, Anderson, Savard, Allen, plus Armia, Barron, Harris, and Kovacevic if there are takers.
If it's working you don't fix it, but if it's not, you have to change it up.
I like it Slaf cant release that shot right now
I think it's the right think they don't have the best chemistry with Slaf on the 1st line he looks almost lost and out of the place there like he would stay in their way at times lol. Next season he should play with Filip Mesar I think they will have great chemistry together and maybe Kirby.
Should have gone to Laval last year
The team has been brutal lately. 3 terrible losses in a row sometimes you need to change some things up. Slaf has show that he's a solid player who can win battles and get his line mates the puck I think Marty is trying balance his already depleted line up. You can't be competitive with one line, hopefully this move will help these lines generate momentum of one another.
My thinking is they are trying to showcase Anderson to the scouts. Tons were at the Sens game. Tons will be at the next game. Anderson and Monohan will be played more then usual in hopes someone wants to offer us a chicken dinner for em.
anderson can protect the youngins i"m find with slaf on second for now , hope they all stay healty.
Maybe they just want the team to tank?
Fire the coach
I wonder if this is to teach Anderson how to pass….. Also Slaf might actually help boost Monahan AND Armia's trade value.
