Cal Foote (played for the Predators last year) is one of 5 players taking an indefinite leave. Many believe it is related to an alleged sexual assault in 2018 including members of the U20 Canada team.

5 players (including 4 NHL players) are taking indefinite leave from their teams. This is on the day that the London, ON police department has asked 5 players from the 2018 U20 Canada team to present themselves to authorities for an alleged sexual assault of a woman:

It makes a little sense why we were not eager to further develop him despite the uncertainty of our future blue line, and why Tampa was happy to trade him to us. This also explains why he was a free agent this summer for a lot longer than anyone expected:

I realize that in our country we believe someone innocent until proven guilty, so it is not my intention to create a debate about that. There are just allegations at this point and no charges have been filed yet. The distraction alone is something we would want no part of. Our boys should be focused on getting the mojo back right now, and not answering questions about why one of their teammates is on indefinite leave. I am glad he is no longer associated with the team and that the organization made the decision to pursue other players.
