On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, we discuss Defenseman options for the Wild to look at before the Trade Deadline if they do indeed want to add a defenseman. While we do prefer Daemon Hunt to get more playing time, if the Wild do want to add a defenseman, we discuss impending UFAs from teams like San Jose, Anaheim and Chicago in the Western Conference, as well as options from Columbus, Montreal, Ottawa and Buffalo. We look at the potential to go after names like Matt Roy and Andreas Englund of the Los Angeles Kings, as well as other high profile names that would add much needed insurance for Jared Spurgeon at the start of next season too. All in the name of adding options to take pressure off of Brock Faber and Jonas Brodin!

I think the greater good is getting a higher draft pick. This team just doesn’t have what it takes to go on a playoff run.
Chychrun he wants more playing time. and wants to leave because of it.. we want a guy who can take more time. Faber can handle it but lets not use him up to much….. imagine

This team made the hole they're in, they should be allowed to get themselves out of it. If they can't, that'll tell Billy something about what he needs going into next season. If they can, Craig Leipold can get his beloved 2-3 home playoff games and we're just a stepping stone for another team…this is NOT the year to trade for reinforcements. This is the year to see what you really got and then make moves accordingly
Chychrun is a name that will draw interest, but I'm not sure how merited it is. He's starting to look like the D-man version of PLD.
BG should work on getting Chychrun. Trade some veteran pieces add in a quality Defense Prospect throw in Strammel. Do what it takes and get it done. BTW BECKMAN again scores 2 goals 4 in 3 games. he is on a heater, for the love of God bring the man up he does NOT belong in Iowa

Don't take this the wrong way. I believe your looking at this the wrong way. But bad teams looking to sell their unrestricted free agents. Will be looking to maximize the return. If you want to look at teams that will want to give up an asset for the least amount of return. Look at teams that are looking to compete for the cup. And they may be wanting to give up a player who is making more than he's worth for a cheap asset. So that they can improve in other areas and free up cap space that way. So look at teams are looking to compete and are tight against the cap and have underperforming players. Wild should target them for a short-term investment. Then if they aren't looking for a playoff spot come trade deadline. They can try and trade that asset for a return. And if the player plays better with us, it will improve his worth in the trade market.
You passed over Mikey Anderson for the kings pretty quick. If you want a bigger hard hitting D man he'd be a good choice (speaking from elementary school recess football experience), and he's a hometown kid.

good morning – so I wanted to step away from this whole defenseman at the deadline idea for a little bit, sleep on it, some jedi meditation…all the stuff Yoda would do, right?
My conclusion: I'm still FIRMLY on Team Tank, and none of these moves feel authentic or would move to the needle for any realistic impact, in my humble opinion.
#GreaterGood must prevail…it's the only way that fortifies the future, instead of prolonging this mediocrity. Next year will be even worse, so let's all just prepare for that now!

I still like Chychrun but the Senators – like the Kings might be a reluctant dance partners after recent trades. Englund is a perfect fit, but I doubt it unless we make it overly enticing which I’m leery to do. Not much to add as others have said some outstanding points 💯….
Trade for a Dman? Um, yes please. Make sure it is for an early 20s prospect Dman on his ELC that is over 6' tall and over 200 pounds. Make sure he's not injury prone, yet loves to hit. 😊
