The lineup a look into how important that will be for the sabes how much he’s meant to their team since he returned from an Achilles injury in the off season again we’ll go through it coming up here in the lockdown Savers podcast recap the game and Elliot fredman with a
Trade rumor involving the Sabers for the trade deadline that’s a pretty trade rumor that I got a thought on coming up here on the show if you want to check us out on our text line we had some back and forths during the game today uh at go to join sub tex.com loock
Ons saers sign up there and then once you sign up there on the internet then everything’s through your phone text Wise It’s a text line so you send texts back and forth um we go through trade uh ideas and we have news up updates Scoops uh line combinations at practice and my
Thoughts on that plus of course our back and forth during the games again join sub text.com lockon Savers to sign up so the Savers win 5-2 it was another slow start and I got a lot to say on that coming up here on the show but droughty
Of the day not so much a fact for droughty of the day as much as a player that was very key during the Sabers drought is on another team he’s having the season of his life and he scored again tonight at time of recording for the Florida Panthers Sam Reinhardt
Scored again tonight he scored last night for Florida he’s up to 37 on the season he can not be stopped Reinhardt is having a year that he’ll never maybe repeat because it’s hard do he’s on Pace for 62 goals Reinhardt has 20 Power Play Goals on the
Season that’s how many Power Play Goals the sabes have on the season Reinhardt 20 Buffalo 20 he has and that the Sabers aren’t alone he has as many Power Play Goals as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and a bunch of other teams as well well here’s the droughty fact of the day
Though Sam Reinhardt now in two and a half Seasons with the Florida Panthers has a 112 goals Sam Reinhardt in six seasons with the Buffalo Sabers had 134 goals 134 for Buffalo 112 for Florida and he’s played more than double the games for the sabes than he has for
Florida I don’t think as I mentioned he’ll ever have this season again it’s it’s a contract year for him he’s making a ton of D and he’s in the perfect spot on the perfect team he’s got the perfect linemate and Alex barov they funnel the power play through him in the high slot
Where he rips one-timers all the time but credit were credits to he’s a great player and it’s no coincidence that his best three goalscoring seasons of his career are all of his three seasons with Florida all topped anything you ever did with the it’s a great team you put him
On a great team he’s going to win he’s going to thrive he’s going to produce um it’s almost like coaching was a problem during Sam H Hart’s saber career so I always liked him and it does make you feel sad I guess about the say to the Sabers because here’s just another
Player that couldn’t win here couldn’t succeed here couldn’t maximize his potential here and left and then immediately won you know you’ve got eel and O’Reilly that won the cup right away but reinhardt’s not too far behind that of he went to the cup and then you know he’s competing with Austin Matthews for
The rocket Rashard trophy um so good for him I always liked him and he’s always been a great player hey they could sign him back probably have to give him like 11 million dolls so not doing that um but he continues to produce 37 goals for Florida so let’s get to the Sabers
Though because we’ve got some positive vibes rolling into the All-Star break some not a lot five to2 over this San Jose Sharks so backto back victories going into the break and this was another game where the Sabers got off to a really slow start in terms of the
Scoreboard in terms of the game itself the first eight minutes of action the Sabres were all over San Jose they had the puck they generated some scoring chances they were generating shots at the time of the Sharks second first goal of the game by Mark Edward vasic they had only had one
Shot on goal that vasset goal was only their second goal of the game and why did it go in it’s a slap shot from the wall a perfect screen by Jacob Bryson in front of ukap peka lcan in just a dumb decision by Bryson he didn’t want to
Step in front of the shot enough to block it but he did enough to block UPL the worst play imaginable by Bryson contributed to that goal and he and and Johnson began the game together on a pair well Bryson screwed up on the first goal and then two minutes later Yan Ruda
Takes a wrist shot from the point for San Jose and same thing I got another defenseman in front of ukap lukan in this time not only does he screen UPL but Ryan Johnson decides to tip the puck I don’t know why he’s even moving his
Stick over to where the puck is and it’s a perfect deflection down and pass ukap peka Lucan him so you’ve got two defensemen on the same pair that equally contributed to the first two goals of the Sharks uh game and it’s two nothing just like that and you might have
Thought oh here we go again bad team what worst team in the league they’re 13 31 and four going into the night and we’re going to lose to this team now credit to the Sabers for not letting that get them down they came right back
At it they drove play the rest of the day because they’re the better hockey team they showed that and they scored five unanswered goals kind of reminiscent to the LA game the other night the dis difference here being that San Jose is actually legitimately bad La
Is you know a playoff team at the moment so they should have done what they did but that’s back-to-back games they got down a couple of goals and then scored four unanswered in this case five unanswered to get the win in this game and this is why the Jack Quinn injury is
So deflating once again it’s a tremendous effort by the Dyan cousins JJ petka Jack Quinn line they ended up with three goals on the night two by petka and then cousins with the empty Netter but to his credit it was a nice empty Netter he tow drag Logan Cur to get out
Of the zone and then get out Off to the Races to score PKA though he’s finishing man in terms of goal scoring right now PKA and Skinner are the only players on this team that I trust to finish scor in chances on a consistent basis not
Even Tage the only two guys if they get a scoring chance the guys I expect to score petka and Skinner and petka is now at 18 goals on the season he is absolutely having that breakout year he had a little bit of a slow stretch in December and he’s picked it right back
Up in the New Year where he was in October or November so good for him that he didn’t go months with while disappearing you got right back to the scoring ways and another guy to shout out here is Casey midat sneaky stars of the game for me I’m going JJ PKA Casey
Middle stat and I’m gonna go with I’m gonna go with Alex tuck is my other one I thought tuck on the four check was great he had a goal himself but middlest stat and PKA were the two middlest stat the board battle I mean the Jordan
Greenway goal to make it two to2 at the end of the first period that is just middle stat battling and getting a puck from a contested situation the the most the the the most wild transformation in a player from beginning of his career guy that lost every Puck battle imaginable to now
I expect him to win Puck battles because middle put on muscle he understands how to use his body better understands angles better his hands and tight spaces he utilizes well and that’s what happened on that goal he dug it out he got to Alex tuck who did a great move to
Get down to a pass angle to get it to Greenway who was able to tap it in that line had a pretty nice night as well if I’m being real the line that had the worst night I thought was the Tage Thompson Jeff Skinner kylo poso Knight
The top two lines in this game were middle stack Greenway and Tuck and cousins Quinn PKA uh if you’re asking me and the second of the pka goals by the way tic-tac-toe I mean skin Quinn to cousins to petka one-time and it’s in the back of the net well the tough thing
To look at is the jack Quinn got injured and it didn’t look good what we know about it and what kind of impact I expect it to have when he likely misses games that’s coming up here on the locked on Sabers podcast we are presented by indeed indeed.com if you

Was was the injury to Jack Quinn in the third period and it didn’t look good Quinn does a little bit of a he’s at the point he tries a spin aama to get around Tomas hurdle on the wall and I actually was a little you know wondering why
Didn’t the Sabers stand up for Quinn on First Look hurdle drives him in the numbers into the boards and it looks like clear boarding hit from behind I might still want somebody to jump in because it’s a good player of yours that got hit along the boards and
Went down bad luck maybe jump in but when you watch it on replay I don’t know what hurdle’s supposed to do Quinn is the one that is spinning hurdle when he commits to the hit he’s facing you know at least the side but I even think the
Front of Quinn but Quinn is doing a spin to try to get around him so he’s spins into a hit from behind and he’s at that awkward position that awkward distance from the boards where he doesn’t go into the boards naturally he awkwardly tumbles in his
Right leg gets caught under him his left leg excuse me and it gets caught and kind of twists his leg and he immediately goes down grabbing his ankle area now what Don Granado said after the game is that they’ll know more tomorrow but they’re he’s pretty confident it’s
Not day-to-day it’s not a day-to-day thing we’re talking about potentially a long-term injury for Jack Quinn now what I heard is they’re going to start looking at the knee you know make sure acl’s intact pcl’s intact mcl’s intact that’s that’s kind of what it looks like
When his leg bent the way it did right but when Quinn grabes his ankle you might think well is it his ankle and I my immediate thought was oh please don’t be as Achilles again please don’t be as an Achilles again this Achilles is so tough injurying Sports um and he’s
Already injured one I don’t know if that’s the same Achilles but you know we’ll see it’s also possible that he like sprained his ankle and also tore his knee up in the process knock on would you hope that that’s not the case you hope the maybe the worst what’s the
Best case scenario like an ankle sprain right and he’s out a couple of weeks and then he’s back you know fingers crossed if that’s all it is so we’ll see but it doesn’t look good for a guy that already you know tough for him he battled to
Rehab his butt off to get back from an Achilles injury in the off season he only plays six uh this was his 17th game of the year five goals 12 assists and 17 games I mean he performed pretty well and you know that’s an injury you could
Be rusty you know coming back from and he was on a pace of 25 goals and 58 points over 82 games had a couple of points on the night here against the sharks um excuse me only one point yeah he only had one assist on the second
Petka goal but he played well he played really well some nice shots some nice playmaking moments and he also gave some comfort I think to Dylan cousins when he came back cousins in when since Quinn’s come back in 16 games five goals eight assists for 13 points I mean that’s a lot better
Than Dylan cousins had been playing before and much of that is spent with Jack Quinn so I think the thing I’m worried about the most is Quinn having a devastating injury that knocks him out for the year and and cousins not being Quinn Reliant but it really hurting cousins that Quinn
Will miss time and of course this team has struggled to score goals all year they need all the Firepower they could get and he’s part of that Firepower so you know I hope that cousins is able to keep playing well even if Quinn’s not in the lineup and I hope that somebody else
Is ready ready to step up you know it’s funny um it’s not funny but when Quinn originally got hurt and I did a show in the offseason okay how are they G to replace this guy because I had him as the breakout candidate of the Season that I’m really deflated that he’s out
Again because in July I said that this is the guy he’s gonna have the breakout year and when he got hurt I thought okay well at least they have Victor Olson in the pipeline and they haven’t traded him yet because he can come in and help fill
The goal scoring Acumen and just no no ability to trust Olson right now none whatsoever I don’t know how they replace Jack Quinn’s production in the top six middle I guess goes back up to the top six but that kind of hurts your third
Line so it’s a it’s a it’s a bad injury you know I hope that it’s it’s a bad who it happened to especially because he had already been hurt um it’s just an awkward play you know Sabers could have gone after him I guess H hurdle on the
Play but watching it back I don’t really blame the guy all that much so that’s what we’re looking at that we’ll keep you updated here in the lockdown Sabers podcast as soon as we know anything if you’re a part of our text line uh if

Eligible items only exclusions apply eBay guaranteed fit only available to us customers final segment here in the lockdown Sabers podcast Sabers win 5-2 over the Sharks one thing I failed to mention by the way that happened in this game uh we got a fight Kyle poso how
About it Kyle ooso who got in the third period leveled leveled then gets up and responds who was the guy sharks number 85 uh he he gets up and he drills the guy back he didn’t have the puck at all um you know I what I’m realizing now they didn’t
Give fivem minute Majors how is that possible um because I’m looking at the box score who was the guy and they didn’t give a fivem minute major to the shark guy he clearly dropped the gloves I don’t know what was happening there either way aoso got up Dred the guy back
And then you know starts swinging and you know I immediately was concerned for because he’s had that concussion history but he got through it okay he did well Skinner meanwhile is off doing who knows what in the corner got a bunch of sharks chasing him around is it say anything
I’m not usually the guy to make this point does it say anything about this this team and this group that the two guys that stand up for each other as much as anybody are the two old guys Kyle aoso and Jeff Skinner those two get into stuff Oso is fiery um he doesn’t
Often fight I think he probably would more if he didn’t have the concussion history he does Skinner is always poon stuff so maybe it doesn’t say anything I don’t need to make it anything more than it is but good for Oso standing up for himself on that hit he’s the captain you
Might want someone else to step up for him right uh anyways the trade rumor for an injured saber from Elliot fredman on Friday is that keep your eye on Eric Johnson the the radar he’s put him on your radar is the way fredman said it and he also said that the Sabers will
Have options I don’t want to get too much into I I don’t know how interesting it is to have Eric Johnson trade talk uh radio on the podcast here because you know it’s Eric Johnson what are they gonna get a fifth a sixth round pick nothing of consequence that to me
Makes it an interesting conversation at all about what they’ll get for Eric Johnson who is a unrestricted free agent at the end of the year so of course you know you’re going to trade right you know he’s a Cup winner some GM is going to think he’s worth something he’s
Probably going to make that team worse because that’s what Eric Johnson is at this point in his career but teams think that those veteran guys have value because of they’ve done it before right even though they’re provably bad players Johnson’s a provably bad player and whoever acquires him I think will be
Hurting their team more than helping it so okay what does it say though that Johnson could be available it means we’re headed for a trade deadline that’s not going to be all that interesting I think most likely you know other guys that could be available I if you look at their ufas uh
Aoso but aoso has kind of made it clear I think that his intention is to retire a buffalo saber and his familyes here and I don’t think he wants to go anywhere else and they could have done it they could have did this well I guess they
Could have done this last year right because two things one he was on a massive cap hit and two the Sabres were in a Race So they weren’t selling so maybe they could trade Oso but Oso would have to want to do it Zenus gearson is a
UFA maybe a a uh a team wants him for a fourth line he’s someone I actually think could help in a little bit of a way a Tampa fourth line for instance because of his skating and his penalty killing uh I think zus will find his way
To a contending team uh and find it interesting I think Eric Robinson who’s UFA at the end of the year has played well enough in his Buffalo time maybe to convince someone he’s worth a look on the fourth line and then there’s Victor olison who I don’t know how could
Anybody think he’s he’s ready to come contribute to a good team right now but maybe there’s a team out there that says our power play stinks and this guy just needs to CH change of scenery he clearly wants out he’s clearly unhappy there if
We bring him here to a winning team in a different Market he’s going to be happy we’re going to put him on the power play we’re going to get him to thrive um maybe olison gets traded for something low as well but those are the names that you’re looking at olison gurgenson aoso
Robinson and Johnson and then the one other name just to keep an eye on whether his name pops up in rumors over the next week during the All-Star break or past that what are we gonna get from Casey midat maybe we get nothing maybe they go to the offseason with no contract or
Trade but if they’re going to trade him at some point then you might start hearing his name pop up in the next month he’s their leading goal scorer excuse me they’re leading Point getter 42 points on the season he’s an RFA at the end of the
Year and some team might say we’d like to get him in the building already see how he meshes with our team so that we have an idea of what to offer him when he gets to restricted free agency at the end of the year middle sets worth
Keeping an eye on but the deadline we’re headed for a rental dump offs for lowlevel picks like gurgenson Olson Johnson maybe Kyle looso but I doubt that one that’s what we’ll be looking for Eric Johnson can’t believe it that anybody would be interested in him but
Hey take him Johnson by the way is zero assists on the season it’s like hard to do for the amount of minutes he’s played no assists not like one’s g off his skate and you know to someone else and gone in into the empty net nothing all
Right good RS good riddens if you ask me that’s going to do it for us today here in the lock down Savers podcast the allstar break we’re getting some allstar content also will be a good time to talk some more about like the state of the team the future rather than like

Sell the team Terry!
Lets GOQ I'm so bummed Quinns hurt AGAIN after just getting him back, it's Skinner coming back then getting hurt all over again luckily SKinny was only out a few games Quinn could be out a long time if it's anything to do with his ACL tear.
BTW Joe love the show would love to call in some time and ask some questions or join the text line.
Joe how do I join the text line is is Discourse ? locked on sabres?
Injury after injury this season 😮💨😮💨😮💨
It looked bad hope its not an acl
The season is a wash its time to bring up kulich and get him some reps
This has been such a cruel season….
This is why Buffalo should have brought in a short term replacement. Nobody would have cared if that player was still on the teal once Quinn came back
You gotta pay mittlestatd now. Quinn has too many lower body injuries too early in his career at this point to trust long term.
Ollie will get his chance again
What really pisses me off about the Reinhart/Eichel rebuild was that we kept looking for a second scoring center (which I believe was what killed that rebuild) all the while having Sam in the fold and not giving him the opportunity because someone "didn't see him as a center" even though that was his draft position. By the time we do finally give him the opportunity, where he excels, he's got one foot out the door. I really can't put into words just how absurdly frickin' stupid that situation became. For no reason other than someone stubbornly sticking to a plan in the hopes of proving themselves correct.
