I love it when Michael Buble is on, ever since he called in to Pratt & Taylor talking about Sundin. A local superfan, more or less just expressing what every Joe and Jane Sixpack is thinking.
About 15 years ago, I was working for a wealthy client at a penthouse suite at the foot of the Cambie bridge. I was supposed to go to my client's portion of rooftop garden/patio and do some work but was meeting resistance from the building concierge employee. After hearing this, the client and I waited for the elevator to go to the lobby to talk with the concierge. As we waited, another of the 4 penthouse residents came around the corner to take the elevator. It was Michael Buble. I was introduced to him and witnessed the opening dialog between my client (who sat on the board of directors for the Children's Hospital) and Buble about the possibility of Buble doing some TV ads for the Children's Hospital. Those ads surfaced a year later. Buble started talking about being asked by organizers to do a charity golf match in Las Vegas. Buble insisted to the organizers that he sucked at golf. But they were persistent so he agreed. Later, after shanking a drive off the opening tee, the organizers confirmed that he did indeed suck at the sport. Buble has a very clean wholesome public persona, but privately, he has no aversion for utilizing 'colorful' language in his social interactions. I'm just grateful that my 88 year old Mother was not present for those conversations.
Great Michael Buble commercial there where besides promoting his new single and whiskey, name dropped a bunch of high level executives he is friends with. What insight did he give into the Canucks? Nothing!
