Right handed defenseman, picked 6th overall in 2022, doesn’t sound too happy in CBJ, and their VP just released a tone deaf condescension of David;
Pascal Vincent’s thoughts on David Jiricek’s development plan.

I’ll be honest that I don’t know much about him, and and I’m sure he would not come cheap, but he would fit our timeline better than our 1st rounder would anyways, as I’m sure the conversation would begin with that. Thoughts?

I’d give up our 1st and Brzustewicz for him
Buy low.
He’s a 6th overall pick he’d cost us like lekkerimaki and a first at least I’d assume because our 1st is a low pick, so probably not unless we could fleece them somehow
His numbers look middling but not terrible. Anyone else know how good he actually is? I love buying low.
Sounds like it would be a Cutter Gauthier return lmao which is ironic cuz they went 5th and 6th the same year.
Cutter Gauthier for Jamie Drysdale and 2025 2nd
For us it would probably be:
David Jiricek for Vasili Podkolzin, Hunter Brusztewicz, and a 2024 1st
Likely because RD is much more valuable than a LW
Having this trade through and assuming Willander doesn’t make the jump for another 2 years; in about 3 years:
– Hughes Hronek
– Soucy Jiricek
– Zadorov Willander
Every team will be trying for this guys, and down vote away but it would take me all of 2 secs to Trade Willander + for him
This is most definitely a player that we should have our sights on if he’s indeed available. I remember he was highly touted during the draft.
I’d rather use our 1st on someone who can help us now and later (like a Guentzel trade + extension), rather than a guy like Jiricek who wouldn’t have a spot in our lineup but could be something down the road
I think our days of taking random change of scenery dudes for a second round pick are over if we’re first in the league.
Yes and No. He is every bit as good/better than any of Vans prospects.. so we would need to send them a pretty preemo package.
And then you’re moving out assets that can be used to re-tool the existing roster.. versus a player who might be another 1-2 seasons away from being an everyday NHL’er (but is still a very legit prospect).
Unless CBJ really likes Lekkeremakki/Willander and would do roughly 1-1… hard to see it working out.
Just FYI, Pascal Vincent is their head coach, not their Vice President.
Jiricek would be pricy to target, and I honestly don’t know what we would move for him. Can’t see PA trading our first this year.
