Freddy starting to skate!
The #Canes have announced that goaltender Frederik Andersen, who has been out since November due to a blood-clotting issue, is set to resume on-ice activities.

Regardless of if or when he plays this is great news!
Outstanding! I halfway feared a very long-term issue. This makes me happy for him and the Canes.
This is the best news I’ve read in a while. Welcome back to the ice, Freddie. Hope we see you in net soon
Let him get back to work at his own pace. Yes I know “goaltending bad” is like 99% of this sub’s output it seems some of the time but blood clots aren’t anything to fuck around with.
I’m more excited that Freddie is getting better then at him getting back in net.
Sincerely glad to see it.
Great news! Definitely feel most comfortable when he’s in net
That’s amazing news
Happy to see the news!
Happy for Freddie!! This is amazing news
The fact he is even on the ice wearing skates says that he must be through it and starting the process of getting back in shape. I mean if not, I wouldn’t think he would be anywhere near a pair of skates. Right?
Regardless, fantastic news.
So happy to see he’s getting better. I was worried he was facing the end of his career.
No clue if we can count on him or not this season, but I’m glad the clotting issue appears to be under control and treated for Freddie’s personal health
DUDE. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms are no fucking joke (source: my dad is a retired pulmonologist) He could’ve died! So happy that he’s recovered enough to start skating again 🙏🙏
I really like how the team/freddie presented this today fully supportive and shedding light on his condition and timeline of his attempt to return.
This just shows how stupid most of the speculation was. Multiple people “confirmed” he had a non hypercoagulation issue not issues with actual clotting. Clearly not the case.
Also the Freddie refused to return to the team narrative, which now seems more like a miscommunication or multiple medical opinions than a refusal to return.
Edit for clarity
Wow this is amazing. Probably feels so good for his mental health too just to get back on the ice even if he’s not back this season. Great news for his family too.
Such great news to hear he is on the road to getting healthy. Curiosity question, does this impact his ability to fly in the future? Would long trips be dangerous for him?
