We all were aware that we have the youngest team in NHL. I know we all got excited last year at the end when we were getting some W’s
I don’t think there should be any big splashes. We will not make playoffs, we will not do our squad any good making massive moves now. Heck, could make things toxic instead.
GMKA, Donny Meatballs and the rest of the leadership on that team know what the feel is in that lockeroom.
Do we need wins , yes. So we need to make improvements yes , but to give up some of our only decent assets for mediocre talent and draft picks that we have to develop all over again …
I say not right now.

No one wants our UFAs. They will expire and retire/go to Sweden.
I’d love to see a big package of prospects for a game breaker, but I can’t think of anyone who has one they can conceivably let go. I’d sell the farm for Brady Tkachuk.

Sometimes I feel like complacency is part of the issue. An out of nowhere deal that blindside the room may be what this organization needs.

I’m leaning on them doing nothing at the deadline. If they do anything it would be trading away impending UFAs or being used in a three-way trade for cap space.

Why isnt fire an option?

Do absolutely nothing until the season is over. Then fire him and bring in somebody competent.
Don’t let him move a single piece of spend a single of tomorrows dollars.

The moves this team needs to make should happen during the offseason. They’re not “deadline-type” moves.
However, he should be listening for someone desperate to overpay for someone. If you know you’re not going to pay Mitts, he’s absolutely someone a fringe playoff team might pay (overpay?) for at the deadline.
If this is Okposo’s last year and a playoff team needs a veteran presence, offer him the opportunity to go do that.
At the end of the day, nothing earth shattering is likely to happen at the deadline.

4. We need experience and some dudes that care.

Imagine entertaining the possibility that Adams will do anything other than sit on his hands. An aggressive trade deadline for him would be moving a single UFA for a meaningless late round draft pick.
He makes Lindy Ruff look like Tim Murray.

They should have bought at *last season*’s trade deadline, but they blew that. So, they’ll probably do the exact wrong thing here…
ShmoopToThrill89
I’d try and move Okposo, Girgensons to playoff teams looking for depth. Get what you can for them. Promote some kids and evaluate. This season is over.
Lonely-You-894
The season is cooked so only make a deal that makes sense LONG term.
