This Day in Kings’ History (2012): Drew Doughty scores a controversial goal versus Columbus

On February 1, 2012, Drew Doughty scored a controversial goal with less than a second remaining in regulation for a 3-2 win over Columbus. Kings GM Dean Lombardi theorized that electrical charges called “coulombs” caused the game clock to recalibrate.

Hot Take: regulation should be extended when there is a power play until that power play expires (obviously this only applies when the team on the power play is tied or down by a single goal).
