Should the Kings buyout pierre-luc dubois? Next year he will be there most expensive forward and he’s currently playing on third line center.

I still don’t understand why they gave up so much for him.

  2. Ready-Analysis5931

Yes. Without hesitation, get rid of him.

  3. buktee123

Once he turns 26 the buyout relief goes from 2/3 to 1/3 so they need to decide ASAP

  4. I was upset when he left Columbus. Not so much now. It’s nice that he spreads the pain.

That would certainly give a few GMs something to think about when going through unconditional waivers. PLD without losing assets, but 8 years at $8.5M.

A Montreal reclamation project is possible, but that’s a steep price even with the available cap space. He would be the highest paid player on the team that is not LTIRetired, and doesn’t seem like the type to have the mental fortitude to survive MTL media.

  6. A lot better than the Parise Suter buyout penalties

So he’s moved up the depth chart. That’s a positive.

    Surprisingly not bad.

You just know he’s going to light it up on his next team, though, à la mode de OEL

they’re not gonna give up on him in his first season with the team, give it a few years and maybe buyout could be an option then.

  10. Yeah.. They should probably do that. Paying the minimum cap hit is not that bad.

Don’t worry, he’ll try to force a trade in a year or two

The problem isn’t even that he’s not producing, he genuinely looks disinterested in playing hockey. I’ve never seen a player do next to nothing nearly every shift on the ice. Even when he has the puck, his movements look like “Fine if I absolutely have to…”

It just sucks. I remember when everybody was losing their shit over his infamous shift in Columbus and my first thought was “Man, I’m glad this guy isn’t on the Kings.” So naturally he would end up here. Then the trade happened and my first thought was “We gave up what for who!?” I was optimistic afterwards, but it has been awful. Then we have fans that are trying to act like it’s McLellan’s fault Dubois sucks. It was time for the coach to be fired a month ago, but it isn’t his fault Dubois doesn’t put any effort in his game. All we can do now is be hopeful he actually wakes up and figures it out.

Another example of why guaranteed contracts don’t make any sense. If this was the NFL, he would be cut and the team would eat a dead cap hit for one year – not 14 🤷‍♂️💸

haha! I got roasted in a post just a month ago for suggesting PLB was a scrub, that I didn’t watch kings games to fully appreciate what he brings to their team (sloth is all I think he brings)…I am enjoying this post for sure!

  15. Honestly you could probably buy a better player with the leftover money from the buyout

In fairness, this could be a down season for him. The best outcome for them would be he regains form in the next season and the contract isn’t so bad.

That said if he doesn’t improve, they could always look for a rebuilding team to take on his contract in exchange for a pick or two. Or even look for a 3-way trade with a rebuilding team taking on some of his salary, while offloading him to a team looking for a middle-6 center.

The term is the issue though, I don’t think anyone is taking him or his contract for 7 years. They’ll have to hold on to him for at least 2 more seasons before anyone even considers taking on his contract.

You need to look at cap hit calculation. It’s not an even 1.1 mil over 14 years.

  18. resentfulvirgin

Nobody is buying out year two of an eight year deal. They have to give him a chance, especially with a rising cap. But, it was a ridiculous deal to begin with.

  19. Stopper33

AVS will take him for Johansen and 50% retained, with a first round pick for whoever takes 50% again.

  20. I’m not even a fan of any of the teams he has burned, but outside of guys with off ice legal issues, there is no one in the league I want to see fail more than him. I have no respect whatsoever for someone who puts in so little effort and thinks he’s above wherever he’s playing.

  21. Trade him to Columbus for Laine. You’ll love him, signed Winnipeg.

  22. heavycommunicator59

Berg did the same thing to us in Montreal before leaving with the awful Gallagher contract instead of signing Danault which i think LA is quite happy with. Win some lose some 🤷‍♂️

  23. Complex-Ad-5907

When will teams learn that PLD is a bust. It’s only a matter of time before he cries his way out of LA.

Bad enough I have to see this stupid crap on the Kings reddit, now it’s bleeding into other areas.
