For someone who supposedly wasn’t happy about the speculation, he says quite a lot here.

“This guy doesn’t appreciate being in trade rumours” continues to make up bullshit stories nonstop about trading him. Fuck off with this shit. He chose to play here he wants to play here and he doesn’t like being in the rumour mill. Treat him with some goddamn respect

    “Life is good”

Damn Marky I hope you stay here forever.

Unless the trade is absolutely significant they should keep him.

It would have to be something wild though like a really good centre and high picks. Or else, why even bother.

Another BS article by our good friend Eric Francis

Marky is definitely an asset we should only part with dearly. He’s arguably the 3rd best goalie we’ve had in org history. (Between him and Lemlin, I would think.) I’d probably only look at trading him before the final year of his contract if he asks. He has an NMC, I think his intentions are pretty apparent.

In the final year, I’d gauge where he and the team are at and look at extending him as a backup for Wolf if we’ve gotten to the point where Wolf is obviously the starter. But if he wants to start and Wolf has supplanted him, I’d try to work with him to get him some place good.

It would take a #1 centre or d-man and a first round pick for me to be anywhere close to okay with trading Markstrom. This team hasn’t had a good goalie since Kiprusoff and now that we finally have someone solid in net I’d like to not stress about that position for as long as I can

I used to drink with Marky back in Vancouver. Solid dude.

If he wants to go? Great.

If he wants to stay? Great.

    >”I don’t control it.”

Quote from man with full no trade clause

This makes it sound like he’s a lot more open to moving that I’d have thought.

Still, seems like Conroy has the right approach. If he gets an offer that blows his socks off, then it’s worth considering. Otherwise, leave it alone.

  11. Whoever started this stuff about Markstrom being traded in the media should be fucking ashamed of themselves. It’s pretty clear that a) Markstrom hasn’t asked to be traded and b) Conroy has not been shopping him. So where the fuck did it come from that it’s the hottest topic?

It also doesn’t make a ton of sense for Calgary (yet) – Vladar can’t be trusted to be a number 1 and while Wolf probably will be eventually, you don’t clear out your number 1 so that you can rotate two number 2s.

Sure, he’s probably not untouchable but somebody else needs to put the deal on the table otherwise this shit is just noise.

    > Asked if the Flames had already approached him to see if he’d waive his no-trade clause, Markstrom was candid.

    > “No,” he said.

I mean, of all the assets we’re actually looking to trade, it’s weird this story is getting any traction, especially with Marky’s response.
