  1. Remember when Detroit was scoring on Hextall from the neutral zone in the playoffs? Slappers from the redline going in.

  2. terrible blow to the Flyers. To lose your young number 1 goalie, with very litle proven goalie talent in the system. Puts tremendous pressure on Ersson, so let's hope he is ready to become a solid number one goalie. Otherwise they're likely to quickly fade from playoff contention and have to figure out what to do about this suddenly huge hole in their future.

  3. Hart is innocent until proven guilty, but sucks because his career maybe done. If they are guilty they need to be punished.

  4. What do you mean why?!!! Because there is such a thing called innocent until proven guilty. No one knows what really happened so it will come out in court and until then they should not be punished. So why would he suspend the players and then be faced with a possible lawsuit if it turns out they are innocent?

  5. We will never see Hart wearing a Flyers uniform again. He's done here. If he's allowed to resume his career after this trial is finished I think the Flyers should trade him a.s.a.p.

  6. Btw, I hate Gary Bettman. He has been ruining the NHL since he came over from the NBA. The NBA can have him back.

  7. Hart is charged with SA, the border will literally not let him into the US unless he gets a US Entry Waiver (no idea how to get one just got the info from doing some googling). Guy is gonna be spending alot of time where ever they're keeping him until the trial. Pro wrestlers have literally been refused entry to Canada for having a DUI. Now all I hope is if the front office can find a good 1B to Erssons 1A and we all forget Hart ever wore a Flyers jersey. You guys also know if any of them somehow snake their way into playing in the show again that Philly will hate the living hell of out them when they come to town. But that would even make the NHL as bad as the NFL and the NHL doesnt need anymore bad press for our niche sport.

  8. Weird that all of these people are so committed to the a-charge-means-guilty attitude. Is that really a philosophy that people want to endorse? Think before you answer.

Look, if I had to bet money, I think I'd go with Hart being guilty, but if the reporting is correct, he won't be given a chance to defend himself for possibly TWO YEARS or more.

If the authorities in London, Ontario really aren't going to even BEGIN a trial for such a long time, I can't imagine they'll try to lock him up… or prevent him from traveling for work… even if it is outside the country to the USA, and if the judge says he's free to travel until the trial… why does anyone think he would not try to play in the NHL?

And on what basis could the league suspend him? If they have done an investigation and made a reasonable determination of guilt… well sure, but has that happened? And if it has, why wasn't he suspended before?

It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense that Carter Hart is just going to agree to not be a professional hockey player anymore. Yes, he would probably be fine with staying away this year, if the Flyers have agreed to pay him. But, it's not that simple. If he doesn't play for the following TWO YEARS, that puts his ability to play after that (if NOT convicted) in serious jeopardy.

Unless the judge has put travel restraints on these guys, I think they all try to play NHL hockey (and maybe even this year). And teams may try to shun them, but I'd expect them to push it, and intensely so.

  9. It's very much possible to be "found not guilty" yet not innocent in the eyes of the general public…(see OJ Simpson). Seeing how the NHL is desperately in need of revenue moreso than the other three major North American sports, the optics are not good on this one no matter what the verdict is….and this is especially tougher with more American media outlets digging deeper into this situation particularly Eastern PA/Tri-State area in this case.

  10. what a lucky coincidence that the names didnt go public until this yaer when all the contracts are ending. No way there was any intentional moves to delay the investigation findings until the NHL could just… avoid dealing with it because… expiring contracts. All lucky coincidences.
